1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the lower panel. (See «LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/mazda/rx-8/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim).)
3. Remove the ashtray panel. (See «CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/mazda/rx-8/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim).)
4. Remove the ventilator grille (center.) (See «VENTILATOR GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/mazda/rx-8/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim).)
5. Remove in the order indicated. (Scheme 61)
6. Install in the reverse order of removal. CAUTION: When installing the center panel module, make sure that the wiring harness and antenna feeder are not caught between the unit and dashboard. If the wiring harness or the antenna feeder is caught between the unit and dashboard, it may cause malfunctions.

Scheme 63

1. Pull the center panel module outward, detach clip A from the dashboard, and then remove the center panel module.

Connector Removal Note

1. Put your hand through the opening where the ventilator grille was removed and disconnect the connectors. CAUTION: When putting your hand through the opening, be careful not to contact the panel edge or sharp parts to avoid injury.
