AIRFLOW MODE DOOR CABLE
Set airflow mode lever on control panel to defrost position. Rotate airflow mode main link clockwise fully and insert a screwdriver in set hole. Connect airflow mode cable to airflow mode main link. (Scheme 4) Clamp airflow mode cable into position. Ensure control panel lever moves fully between defrost and vent positions.
Scheme 4
AIR INTAKE MODE DOOR CABLE
Set control panel lever to fresh air setting. Rotate air intake mode main link clockwise fully and insert a screwdriver in set hole. (Scheme 5) Connect fresh/recirculated air cable wire to air intake main link. Clamp wire into place. Ensure control panel lever moves fully between fresh and recirculated air positions.
Scheme 5
AIR MIX MODE DOOR CABLE
Set temperature blend lever on control panel to maximum cold position. Rotate air mix mode main link counterclockwise fully and insert a screwdriver in set hole. (Scheme 6) Connect temperature blend cable wire to air mix link. Clamp wire into place. Ensure control panel lever moves fully between cold and hot positions.

INSUFFICIENT AIRFLOW OR NO AIRFLOW IN SOME MODES
Check the following components and systems for any listed condition. Repair or replace as necessary and retest system.
- Faulty airflow mode control knob cable and/or adjustment.
- Obstructions in ducting.
- Deformed, leaking or improperly installed ducting.
NO AIRFLOW IN ANY MODE
Check the following components and systems for proper operation. Repair or replace as necessary and retest system.
- Faulty blower motor relay, blower motor, resistor and blower motor switch.
- Obstructions in ducting.
AIRFLOW MODE DOES NOT CHANGE
Check the following components and systems for any listed condition. Repair or replace as necessary and retest system.
- Faulty airflow mode control knob cable and adjustment.
- Incorrect installation and/or lubrication of airflow mode linkage and cable clamp.
INCORRECT OR NO AIR CIRCULATION
Check the following components and systems for any listed condition. Repair or replace as necessary and retest system.
- Faulty fresh/recirculated air mode control lever cable and/or adjustment.
- Incorrect installation and/or lubrication of fresh/recirculated air mode linkage and cable clamp.
- Deformed, leaking or improperly installed ducting.
NO HOT AIR AT ANY TEMPERATURE SETTING
Check the following components and systems for any listed condition. Repair or replace as necessary and retest system.
- Ensure engine coolant is full and at normal operating temperature.
- Incorrect installation and lubrication of temperature blend mode linkage and cable clamp.
- Deformed, leaking or improperly installed ducting.
COMPONENT TESTS
| WARNING | To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM procedures in AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVICING. |
BLOWER MOTOR
Remove glove box. Disconnect harness connector from bottom of blower motor. Using jumper wire, connect battery voltage to blower motor terminal "A". Using second jumper wire, connect blower motor terminal "B" to ground. Replace blower motor if it does not operate.
Scheme 7
BLOWER MOTOR RELAY
Remove blower unit. See BLOWER UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect blower motor relay harness connector and remove relay from blower case. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between blower motor relay terminals "C" and "D". Continuity should not exist. (Scheme 8) Apply battery voltage to terminal "A" and ground terminal "E". Ensure continuity now exists between terminals "C" and "D". Replace blower motor relay if continuity is not as specified.
Scheme 8
BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR
Disconnect blower motor resistor harness connector. Ensure continuity exists between specified blower motor resistor terminals. See BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR SPECIFICATIONS table. (Scheme 9) If continuity is not as specified, replace blower resistor.
| Measured Between Terminals | Resistance Ohms | |
|---|---|---|
| A & G | .17-.19 | |
| E & G | .51-.58 | |
| C & G | ||
| Resistor Type A | 2.80-3.21 | |
| Resistor Type B | 2.35-2.70 | |

BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH
Remove heater control panel. Set blower motor switch in appropriate position and check continuity between specified blower motor switch terminals. See BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. (Scheme 10) If continuity is not as specified, replace blower switch.
