CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RESET - PROCEDURE 1
Note. In addition to displaying computer system malfunction codes (codes only on Calif. emissions), CHECK engine warning light acts as a service reminder indicator.
Note. CHECK engine warning light will come on at 60,000 miles (for EGR) and 80,000 miles (for O2S sensor).
To reset warning light after servicing, locate Brown/White, Black, and Green wire connectors under left side of dash (above relay box). (Scheme 1) At 60,000 mile intervals, unplug Black wire connector from Brown/White wire connector and plug it into Green wire connector. At 80,000 mile intervals, return Black wire connector to Brown/White wire connector. (Scheme 1)

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RESET - PROCEDURE 2
Note. In addition to displaying computer system malfunction codes (codes only on Calif. emissions), CHECK engine warning light acts as a service reminder indicator.
Note. CHECK engine warning light will come on every 80,000 miles to indicate oxygen sensor service is needed.
To reset warning light after servicing, remove instrument cluster. Locate lettered reset holes (NC and NO) on rear of instrument cluster. (Scheme 2) Remove screw from lettered reset hole and install it in other hole. After each 80,000 miles, reverse screw position.

EGR WARNING LIGHT RESET INDEX
EGR WARNING LIGHT RESET - PROCEDURE 1
Warning light will come on at 60,000 miles, indicating EGR system should be serviced. To disable warning light (after service), locate Black wire and Green wire connectors under dash (above and left of fuse box). Unplug connector, and leave it disconnected. Light will not come on again.

MAINTENANCE MONITOR RESET INDEX
MAINTENANCE MONITOR RESET - PROCEDURE 1
The Maintenance Monitor notification timing can be reset according to either the remaining travel distance or remaining days by performing the following procedure
Note. Because the time information is reset after the negative battery cable is disconnected, the regular inspection period cannot be set using days. If the time information is reset, move the vehicle outdoors where reception of time information via GPS is possible. After verifying that the time is displayed on the multi information display, perform the day-setting procedure for the regular inspection period. Do not place objects around the GPS antenna, otherwise the GPS signal cannot be received.
- Press the INFO SWITCH to display the SETTINGS menu.
- When the MAINTENANCE menu is displayed, press the ENTER switch.
- Select TIRE ROTATION or SERVICE DUE and press the ENTER switch.
- Select SET and press the ENTER switch.
- If SERVICE DUE is selected, select either DISTANCE or DAYS and press the ENTER switch.
- If TIRE ROTATION is selected, the SET DISTANCE screen is displayed.
- The screen for setting the next distance or days (SERVICE DUE only) to maintenance is displayed. The initial setting corresponding to the maintenance schedule is displayed.
- To change the set value, operate the UP/DOWN switch and change the setting.
- Press the ENTER switch.

MAINTENANCE MONITOR RESET - PROCEDURE 2
Note. This maintenance monitor reset procedure only applies to models with a Type A instrument cluster. (Scheme 4)
The following maintenance period notifications can be displayed on the Maintenance Monitor display
- Scheduled Maintenance
- Tire Rotation
- Tire Pressure Check
The maintenance monitor displays the information when the ignition is switched ON.
- Press the UP/DOWN ARROWS part of the INFO switch and select SETTINGS, and then press the INFO button.
- Press the UP/DOWN ARROWS part of the INFO switch and select MAINTENANCE, and then press the INFO button.
- Press the UP/DOWN ARROWS part of the INFO switch and select the item you want to reset, and then press the INFO button.
- Press the UP/DOWN ARROWS part of the INFO switch and select SET TIME or SET DISTANCE, and then press the INFO button. The remaining time and distance values return to the values previously set. If no changes are necessary, press the INFO button

Vehicles With Type B Audio
Note. This maintenance monitor reset procedure only applies to models with Type B Audio system. (Scheme 5)
The following maintenance period notifications can be displayed on the Maintenance Monitor display
- Scheduled Maintenance
- Tire Rotation
- Oil Change
- Select the APPLICATIONS icon on the home screen.
- Select MAINTENANCE.
- Switch the tab and select the setting item you want to RESET.
- Once reset, the remaining time and distance values return to their appropriate settings.

Vehicles Without Type B Audio
- Press and hold the TRIP button with the ignition switched off, then switch it on.
- Keep pressing the TRIP button for more than 5 seconds. The master warning light will flash for a few seconds when the reset is completed.
TIMING BELT WARNING LIGHT

TIMING BELT WARNING LIGHT RESET INDEX
TIMING BELT WARNING LIGHT RESET - PROCEDURE 1
Replace both timing belts when warning light is illuminated or at 100,000 miles. To reset warning light, locate Black wire, Black/Yellow and Black/White wire connectors near intermittent wiper control unit. Remove Black wire connector from either Black/White or Black/Yellow wire connector. Reconnect Black wire to opposite connector from which it was originally disconnected.

TPMS RESET INDEX
TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 1
Note. Whenever tires or wheels are changed (such as changing to and from winter tires), the tire pressure sensor's unique ID signal code must be registered with TPM system.
Note. There is no practical difference between the M-MDS scan tool method of registration and the non-scan tool method. The M-MDS scan tool method simply provides the ability to read the tire pressure sensor ID changes directly. With both methods, the vehicle must remain stationary for 15 minutes and then be driven for 10 minutes.
Without M-MDS Scan Tool
- Turn ignition switch to ON position, then turn it back to LOCK position.
- Leave the vehicle with the engine off, and wait for about 15 minutes.
- After about 15 minutes, drive vehicle at a speed of at least 16 mph (25 km/h) for 10 minutes or more. Tire pressure sensor ID registration is complete when the TPMS warning light is not illuminated. NOTE: If vehicle is driven within 15 minutes of changing tires, the warning light will flash because the sensor ID signal code would not have been registered. If this happens, park the vehicle for about 15 minutes, after which sensor ID signal code will register upon driving vehicle for 10 minutes or more.
With M-MDS Scan Tool
Note. Use the LDS (laptop PC). The PDS (pocket PC) does not support wheel unit ID registration and monitoring wheel unit ID.
Note. When using the M-MDS scan tool to perform the ID registration, record the initial ID data and verify the data has changed after driving for 10 minutes or more.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position, then turn it back to LOCK position.
- Connect M-MDS scan tool and identify the vehicle.
- After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initial screen of the M-MDS.
- Select "BODY", then "TPMS FUNCTION", then "WHEEL UNIT ID REGISTRATION".
- Select "WU_ID REGISTRATION". NOTE: Before driving, record the initial ID data stored in the scan tool, to verify the data has changed.
- Leave the vehicle with the engine off, and wait for 15 minutes or more.
- Verify the TPMS warning light turns ON and OFF in 0.5 second repeat cycles.
- After 15 minutes or more, drive vehicle at a speed of at least 16 mph (25 km/h) for 10 minutes or more. Tire pressure sensor ID registration is complete when the TPMS warning light turns OFF.
TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 2
Note. After the replacement of a tire pressure sensor and/or smart junction box (SJB), the tire pressure sensor must be trained. See Tire Pressure Sensor Training .
Note. For vehicles with different front and rear tire pressures, the tire pressure sensor must be trained after a wheel rotation. Otherwise, the TPM system is not affected after a wheel/tire rotation.
Note. After a vehicle has been stationary for 30 minutes or more the tire pressure sensors go into "Sleep Mode". The tire pressure sensor may need to be activated to transmit the latest tire pressure values to the SJB. See Tire Pressure Sensor Activation .
When the tire pressure warning light illuminates, immediately check air pressure of all tires and adjust to the specified pressure. If the vehicle has been stationary for more than 30 minutes, the tire pressure sensor will be in sleep mode. Drive the vehicle at least 20 mph (32 km/h), or use a TPM Sensor Activation Tool to wake-up sensors. Ensure warning indicators go out.
Tire Pressure Sensor Activation
Note. After a vehicle has been stationary for 30 minutes or more the tire pressure sensors go into "Sleep Mode". The tire pressure sensor may need to be activated to transmit the latest tire pressure values to the SJB.
Note. In the following procedure, a TPM Sensor Activation Tool must be used.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- Place the activation scan tool against the left front tire wall at the valve stem. Press the test button. NOTE: It is recommended to activate each tire pressure sensor 2 times. NOTE: To indicate the tire pressure sensor has been activated, the scan tool will make a "Beep" sound and being to flash a green light. NOTE: Do not wait more than 2 minutes between each tire pressure sensor training.
- Place the activation scan tool against the tire wall at the valve stem on the remaining tires.
- Verify that the TPMS warning indicator is not illuminated. NOTE: If the TPMS warning indicator is still illuminated, there may be a malfunction in the TPM system. See appropriate manufacturer service information.
Tire Pressure Sensor Training
Note. New tire pressure sensors are shipped in OFF mode and must be turned ON to be trained. Turn ON new tire pressure sensors by inflating the tire to specified tire pressure values and wait 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, proceed with tire pressure sensor training.
Note. For vehicles with different front and rear tire pressures, the tire pressure sensor must be trained after a wheel rotation. After the replacement of the tire pressure sensor and/or SJB, the tire pressure sensor must be trained. The TPM system is not affected after a wheel/tire rotation.
Note. The tire pressure sensor training procedure must be done, one vehicle at time, in a area without radio frequency noise, and 3 ft. (1 m) away from other vehicle equipped with TPM system.
Note. In the following procedure, a TPM Sensor Activation Tool must be used.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position, then press the brake pedal.
- Turn ignition switch from OFF to RUN positions 3 times, ending in the RUN position. NOTE: Do not wait more than 1 minute between each key cycle.
- Press the brake pedal, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Turn ignition switch from OFF to RUN positions 3 times, ending in the RUN position. NOTE: Do not wait more than 1 minute between each key cycle. NOTE: The horn will sound, the message center (if equipped) will display "TRAIN LF TIRE", and the TPMS warning indicator will flash if the training mode has been entered successfully.
- Place the activation scan tool against the left front tire wall at the valve stem. Press the test button. The horn will sound to indicate the tire pressure sensor has been trained. NOTE: It may take 6 seconds to activate the tire pressure sensor. During this time frame the activation scan tool must remain in place. If the tire pressure sensor does not respond the activation of a scan tool, rotate the tire at least a 1/4 turn and try to activate again. NOTE: If the SJB does not recognize any one of the tires, the horn will sound twice, the message center will display "TIRE NOT TRAINED REPEAT" (if equipped), and the training procedure must be repeated. NOTE: Do not wait more than 2 minutes between each tire pressure sensor training.
- Repeat procedure on the 3 remaining tires, in the following order - Right Front, Right Rear, Left Rear.
- The horn will sound to indicate that each tire pressure sensor has been trained. NOTE: Do not wait more than 2 minutes between each tire pressure sensor training.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. If the horn does not sound, the training procedure is complete. NOTE: Vehicle equipped with a message center will verify the training procedure is complete if the message center displays "TIRE TRAINING COMPLETE". NOTE: Vehicle not equipped with a message center, if the horn does sound when the ignition switch is turn to the OFF position, repeat the training procedure.
- Using an Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS), or equivalent, tester, record the trained tire pressure sensor IDs in the customer's warranty booklet.
TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 3
Note. After the replacement of a tire pressure sensor and/or smart junction box (SJB), the tire pressure sensor must be trained. See Tire Pressure Sensor Training .
Note. For vehicles with different front and rear tire pressures, the tire pressure sensor must be trained after a wheel rotation. Otherwise, the TPM system is not affected after a wheel/tire rotation.
Note. After a vehicle has been stationary for 30 minutes or more the tire pressure sensors go into "Sleep Mode". The tire pressure sensor may need to be activated to transmit the latest tire pressure values to the SJB. See Tire Pressure Sensor Activation .

- Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- Place the activation scan tool against the left front tire wall 180 degrees opposite of the valve stem. Press the test button. (Scheme 6)NOTE: Activate each tire pressure sensor 2 times. NOTE: If the tire pressure sensor has been activated, the scan tool will make a "Beep" sound and being to flash a green light. NOTE: Do not wait more than 2 minutes between each tire pressure sensor training.
- Place the activation scan tool against the tire wall 180 degrees opposite of the valve stem on the remaining tires.
- Verify that the TPMS warning indicator is not illuminated. NOTE: If the TPMS warning indicator is still illuminated, there may be a malfunction in the TPM system. See appropriate manufacturer service information.

NOTE: The horn will sound, the message center will display "TRAIN LF TIRE" (if equipped), and the TPMS warning indicator will flash if the training mode has been entered successfully. NOTE: The message center will display "TRAIN LF TIRE" (if equipped), to indicate which tire you should place the scan tool against first.
- Place the activation tool against the left front tire wall 180 degrees opposite of the valve stem. Press the test button. The horn will sound to indicate the tire pressure sensor has been trained. (Scheme 6)NOTE: It may take 6 seconds to activate the tire pressure sensor. During this time frame the activation scan tool must remain in place. If the tire pressure sensor does not respond to the activation tool, rotate the tire at least a 1/4 turn and try to activate again. NOTE: If the SJB does not recognize any one of the tires, the horn will sound twice, the message center (if equipped) will display "TIRE NOT TRAINED REPEAT", and the training procedure must be repeated. NOTE: Do not wait more than 2 minutes between each tire pressure sensor training.
- Repeat procedure on the 3 remaining tires.
- The horn will sound to indicate that each tire pressure sensor has been trained. (Scheme 6)NOTE: Do not wait more than 2 minutes between each tire pressure sensor training.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. If the horn does not sound, the training procedure is complete. NOTE: Vehicle equipped with a message center will verify the training procedure is complete if the message center displays "TIRE TRAINING MODE COMPLETE". NOTE: Vehicles not equipped with a message center: If the horn does sound when the ignition switch is turn to the OFF position, repeat the training procedure.
- Using a Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or a equivalent tester, record the tire pressure IDs trained.
TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 4
Note. This vehicle is equipped with an Indirect TPM System. No tire pressure sensors are installed on the wheels.
Perform the tire pressure monitoring system initialization when the following operations have been performed
- Tire pressures have been adjusted
- Tires or wheels have been replaced
- Tires have been rotated
- DSC HU/CM replaced or its connector is disconnected
- Battery replaced or disconnected
- Park the vehicle on level ground.
- Adjust all four tire pressures to the specification while the tires are cold.
- Switch the ignition ON.
- Press and hold the TPMS set switch until the warning light in the instrument cluster flashes twice and a beep sound is heard once. (Scheme 7)
- When the TPMS initialization is performed, learning initiates. Learning is completed by driving the vehicle for 20 minutes.
