A/C DOES NOT TURN OFF DURING WIDE OPEN THROTTLE (WOT)

  1. Check for Throttle Position (TP) sensor circuit malfunction.
  2. Check for loose TP sensor.

EMISSIONS FAILURE

  1. Check for incorrect engine compression.
  2. Check for incorrect valve timing.
  3. Check for worn engine parts.

NO CRANK

  1. Check for starter malfunction.
  2. Check for open starter or ignition switch circuit.
  3. Check for low battery charge.
  4. Check for charging system malfunction.
  5. Check for hydrostaticaly-locked engine.
  6. Check for seized drive plate (A/T) or flywheel (M/T).
  7. Ensure transmission is in Park (A/T) or neutral (M/T). Ensure clutch is fully depressed (M/T).

NO START (CRANKS NORMALLY)

  1. Check for incorrect engine compression.
  2. Check for incorrect valve timing.
  3. Check for hydrostaticaly-locked engine.
  4. Check for poor fuel quality.
  5. Check for overheating engine.
  6. Check for intake system vacuum leak.
  7. Check for Idle Air Control (IAC) valve malfunction.

  1. Check for poor fuel quality.
  2. Check for evaporative emission control system malfunction.

Intermittent Simulation

To reproduce conditions creating an intermittent fault, use the following methods

  1. Lightly vibrate component.
  2. Heat component.
  3. Wiggle or bend wiring harness.
  4. Spray component with water.
  5. Remove/apply vacuum source.

Monitor circuit/component voltage or resistance while simulating intermittent. If engine is running, monitor for self-diagnostic codes. Use test results to identify a faulty component or circuit.
