Reprogram Error Recovery Procedure For Both Immobilizer Unit And PCM Replacement

Note. If no specific time interval is given, each step should be performed within 30 seconds of the previous step.

1. Using key 1, start engine. After security light illuminates for 1-2 seconds , turn key 1 to LOCK position.
2. Using key 1, turn ignition switch to ON position then back to LOCK position five times . Key should not remain at ON position or LOCK position for more than 1 second.
3. Using key 1, turn ignition switch to ON position (security light illuminates).
4. Turn key 1 to LOCK position and remove from steering lock (security light goes out).
5. Using key 2, start engine. Observe that security light illuminates (for 1-2 seconds ) and engine continues to run.
6. Turn key 2 to LOCK position and remove from steering lock.
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 with key 1.
8. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 with key 3.
9. If there are 4-8 keys (valid and/or new keys), repeat Steps 5 and 6 .
10. Wait for 30 seconds to quit reprogram mode.
11. After reprogramming, clear DTCs of PCM with WDS or equivalent.

Coil Installation Note

1. Install the hook 1 to the steering lock.
2. Install the hook 2 and hook 3 to the steering lock.

Removal & Installation

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove right front kick panel. Disconnect door lock control module connector. Remove door lock control module retaining nut and remove door lock control module. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Close door window completely. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove front door trim panel. See FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL . Disconnect lock cylinder switch connector. Disconnect rods. Remove outer door handle. Remove pin, and then remove lock cylinder from outer door handle. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove front door trim panel. See FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL . Push out retaining clip behind switch panel and remove switch panel. Remove door lock switch screws and remove door lock switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Close door window completely. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove front door trim panel. See FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL . Remove inner door handle. Remove trim bracket and door screen. Disconnect door lock actuator connector. Disconnect rods and cables. Remove front door lock. Remove 2 screws and remove door lock actuator. To install, reverse removal procedure.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove window opening front inner trim panel. Remove window regulator handle (if equipped). Remove 2 trim panel fasteners. Remove cover and screw in door pull cup. Remove screw at inside door handle bezel. Remove lens or cap and screw at lower front corner of trim panel.
2. Disengage retaining clips from door. Pull door trim panel upward to disengage upper hooks. Remove inner handle from trim panel. Disconnect power window, power door lock and courtesy light connectors from door trim panel. Remove door trim panel. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Scheme 20

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration. (Scheme 20): Removing Immobilizer Unit
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Pull back weatherstrip on liftgate side and sliding door side. Remove mat set end plate and rear scuff plate. Move second seat forward and stow third seat. Remove bolt and fastener. Pull trim panel out to release retainers and lift up to disengage hooks. Disconnect accessory plug and speaker connectors. Remove rear side trim.
2. Disconnect keyless control module connector. Remove keyless control module mounting bolt. Remove keyless control module. Remove bracket from keyless control module. To install, reverse removal procedure.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove liftgate upper and side trim. Remove cargo compartment light. Remove lower trim fasteners. Remove pull handle screws and pull handle. Disengage trim panel fasteners from liftgate and remove liftgate trim panel.
2. Disconnect lock cylinder switch connector. Disconnect rods. Remove liftgate lock cylinder. Remove liftgate lock cylinder switch from lock cylinder. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Air Duct Removal Note

1. Disconnect the front blower resistor connector.
2. Remove the air duct stay fastener.
3. Slide the air duct to the right.
4. Tilt the left side down to remove the air duct from the installation place.

Scheme 22

1. Before removing the PCM panel, pull the PCM connector harness stay fastener out from the PCM panel.
2. Remove the upper right side of the PCM panel installation nut located at the back of the blower unit as shown. (Scheme 22): Removing PCM Panel Installation Nut
3. Remove the lower side of the PCM panel installation nuts located at the bottom of the cabin carpet.
4. Remove four installation nuts, then pull the PCM panel down to remove from installation place.

1. Close door window completely. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove sliding door window front trim and upper frame. Remove inner door handle. Remove window regulator handle (if equipped). Disengage trim panel fasteners from door. Pull door trim panel upward to disengage hooks. Disconnect power window switch connector (if equipped). Remove sliding door trim panel.
2. Remove door screen and door lock knob. Remove sliding door lock. Disconnect door lock actuator connector. Disconnect rods and cables. Remove sliding door remoter controller. Remove screws and remove door lock actuator. To install, reverse removal procedure.
