BASIC INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL]

STEPINSPECTIONACTION
1Measure the battery voltage. Is the battery voltage 10.0-14.0 V?YesGo to the next step.

2Inspect the TCM related harnesses, connectors and fuses. Are they normal?YesGo to the next step.

3Switch the ignition ON. When the selector lever is moved, does the gear position indicator light indication correspond to the selector lever position? Also, when other positions are selected from N or P during idling, does the vehicle move within 1-2s?YesGo to the next step.
NoInspect TR switch (built in TCM) and the adjustment of selector cable and TR switch. Repair or replace malfunctioning parts. (See TRANSAXLE RANGE (TR) SWITCH INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) NoRepair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection results.
3Stop the engine. Inspect following solenoid. Shift solenoid A (See SHIFT SOLENOID A INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) Shift solenoid B (See SHIFT SOLENOID B INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) 2Drive the vehicle in D position and inspect following: 1-2 shift up and down 2-3 shift up and down 3-4 shift up and down 4-5 shift up and down 5-6 shift up and down Are all shift-up and shift-down possible?YesGo to the next step.
NoNo shift at all: Go to NO. 7 "NO SHIFTING" . Abnormal shift: Go to NO. 9 "ABNORMAL SHIFTING" .
3Stop the engine. Inspect following solenoid. Shift solenoid C (See SHIFT SOLENOID C INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) Shift solenoid D (See SHIFT SOLENOID D INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) 2Display the following DSC CM PIDs using the M-MDS. (See DSC/RSC SYSTEM INSPECTION .) WSPD_LF WSPD_LR WSPD_RF WSPD_RR Are the monitoring values displayed uniformly while driving?YesGo to the next step.
NoPerform the following inspections: ABS wheel-speed sensor installation inspection Is the ABS wheel-speed sensor installation normal? ABS sensor rotor installation inspection Is the ABS sensor rotor installed twisted? (may cause output of abnormal wave pattern at high speeds.) Are there missing teeth on the sensor rotor? 3Access the TCM PID UP SW using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) Monitor the UP_SW PID with move the selector lever to "+" with M position. Does the UP_SW PID indicate properly?YesInspect the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
NoInspect the up switch. (See UP SWITCH INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) If the up switch is normal, inspect for continuity between the selector lever component terminal A and TCM terminal A3.
4Verify test results. If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. If malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis. If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed. If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the TCM.

2Shift the selector lever to M position. Verify that the gear position indicator light illumination. Does the gear position indicator light illuminate?YesGo to the next step.
NoGo to NO. 27 "GEAR POSITION INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE IN D OR M POSITION" .
3Access the TCM PID DWN SW using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) Monitor the DWN_SW PID with move the selector lever to "-" with M position. Does the DWN_SW PID indicate properly?YesInspect the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
NoInspect the down switch. (See DOWN SWITCH INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) If the down switch is normal, inspect for continuity between the selector lever component terminal B and TCM terminal A4.
4Verify test results. If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. If malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis. If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed. If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the TCM.

3Inspect the M position switch. (See M POSITION SWITCH INSPECTION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .) Is the M position switch normal?YesInspect for open circuit in wiring harness between TCM terminal A7 and selector lever component terminal C. Repair or replace any malfunctioning part.
NoReplace the M position switch. (See M POSITION SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL] .)
4Inspect the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSPECTION .) Is instrument cluster normal?YesGo to the next step.
NoReplace the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
5Verify the test results. If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis. If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.
