STARTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5]
| WARNING | Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury. When the battery cables are connected, touching the vehicle body with starter terminal B will generate sparks. This can cause personal injury, fire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the negative battery cable before performing the following operation. |
Scheme 20
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the plug hole plate. (See «PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5]»(ref-581643-S18902301812013101400000).)
- Remove the air cleaner, air hose and fresh air duct component. (See «INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5]»(ref-581645-S06665670962013101400000).)
- Remove the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor. (See «MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5]»(ref-581641-S36160098322013101400000).)
- Remove in the order indicated in the table.
- Install in the reverse order of removal. (Scheme 20): Starter, Wiring Harness Bracket, Terminal B Cable And Terminal S Connector With Torque Specification
Starter Removal Note
- Remove the starter from above the engine compartment.
Starter Installation Note
Note. If the insulator is peeling or damaged, attach a new insulator using the following procedure: (Scheme 21): Identifying Insulator Peeling Area Of Starter

- Peel off the insulator from the starter completely using a scraper.
- Degrease the insulator attachment area. (Scheme 22): Identifying Insulator Attachment Area Of Starter
- Attach a new insulator to the starter. see scheme 5: Starter Insulator
