Starting System [Mzi 3.7 V6]: Removal & Installation Mazda 6 GJ

STARTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI 3.7 V6]

WARNINGRemove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury. When the battery cables are connected, touching the vehicle body with starter terminal B will generate sparks. This can cause personal injury, fire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the negative battery cable before performing the following operation.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the battery and battery tray. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI 3.7 V6]»(ref-581639-S29135432412013101400000).)
  3. Remove the selector cable bracket fitting bolts with the selector cable still connected. Position the selector cable bracket out of the way.
  4. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal. (Scheme 41): Starter, Battery Bracket, Terminal B Cable And Terminal S Connector With Torque Specification
