Generators & Regulators: Removal & Installation Mazda 6 GG

Removal & Installation (2.3L)

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the under cover.
3. Remove the right side splash shield.
4. Turn the center of the tensioner pulley clockwise to release tension to the drive belt.
5. Remove the drive belt.
6. Remove the generator duct. (Scheme 4)
7. Disconnect terminal "B" wire.
8. Disconnect generator harness connector.
9. Remove generator heat insulator.
10. Remove generator.
11. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners in sequence, to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-166828-S17481161822004092900000). (Scheme 4)

Scheme 4

Removal & Installation (3.0L)

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the under cover and right splash shield.
3. Set a breaker bar on the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner pulley.
4. Using the breaker bar, turn the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner pulley clockwise to release tension to the drive belt.
5. Remove the drive belt.
6. Remove the right Three Way Catalyst (TWC) and the front pipe.
7. Disconnect generator terminal "B" wire. (Scheme 5)
8. Disconnect generator harness connector.
9. Remove generator mounting bolts. Remove generator.
10. To install, reverse removal procedure. (Scheme 5) Tighten fasteners in sequence, to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-166828-S17481161822004092900000).
