FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT BRACKET REPLACEMENT

Note. Verify that the front combination light is not damaged before using the repair bracket for installation when the original brackets are damaged. If the front combination light component is damaged, replace the light as a single unit.

  1. Cut off the front combination light brackets at the locations shown in the figure. CAUTION: Be careful not to cut off the positioning pin. NOTE: After roughly cutting off the brackets, position the repair bracket using the positioning pins, and gradually smoothen any rough areas to create a shape that facilitates installation.
  2. Smoothen the cut surfaces using sandpaper so that the repair bracket can be properly installed.
  3. Securely attach the repair bracket to the front combination light using the screws.

  1. Adjust the tire pressure to the specification.
  2. Position the unloaded vehicle on a flat, level surface.
  3. Seat one person in the driver's seat.
  4. Position the vehicle straight ahead and perpendicular to the white screen.
  5. Set the headlights 3 m {9.8 ft} from the white screen.
  6. Place an object in front of the headlight not being adjusted to block its light beam.
  7. Start the engine so that the battery remains charged.
  8. Turn on the low-beam headlight.
  9. Adjust by turning the aiming adjustment screw so that elbow point is in the position shown in the figure.

  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Disconnect the connector. CAUTION: A halogen bulb generates extremely high heat when it is illuminated. If the surface of the bulb is soiled, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When replacing the bulb, hold the metal flange, not the glass.
  4. Remove the cover.
  5. Remove the socket, then remove the headlight bulb.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 30: High-Beam
  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Disconnect the connector. CAUTION: A halogen bulb generates extremely high heat when it is illuminated. If the surface of the bulb is soiled, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When replacing the bulb, hold the metal flange, not the glass.
  4. Remove the socket, then remove the headlight bulb.
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 31: AUTO LIGHT ILLUMINATION LEVEL SETTING
  1. Connect the WDS or equivalent to the DLC-2 (16-pin).
  2. Select "Module Programming" from the menu.
  3. Select "Programmable Parameters".
  4. Select "Exterior Lighting".
  5. Select "Standard" or "Low" on the WDS or equivalent to set the illumination level. NOTE: When the WDS is set to Low, the auto-light sensor sensitivity decreases, and the TNS and headlight illumination timing is slower.

Scheme 32: FRONT TURN/PARKING/SIDE MARKER LIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the fasteners and slightly bend back the mudguard.
  4. Remove the socket, then remove the front turn/parking/side marker light bulb.
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Slightly bend back the mudguard.
  4. Disconnect the front fog light bulb connector.
  5. Remove the screws and bolt, then remove the front fog light.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  7. Adjust the front fog light aiming. (See «FRONT FOG LIGHT AIMING»(ref-244399-S38413257872006092100000) ).

  1. Make a headlight adjustment screen as shown in the figure using double-weight, white paper.
  2. Remove the bolt and cut the plastic piece off at the position shaded shown in the figure.
  3. Adjust the tire pressure to the specification.
  4. Position the unloaded vehicle on a flat, level surface.
  5. Seat one person in the driver's seat.
  6. Line up the headlights with the white screen at a distance of 3 m {9.8 ft} apart.
  7. Place an object in front of the fog light not being adjusted to block its light beam.
  8. Start the engine so that the battery remains charged.
  9. Turn the front fog lights on.
  10. Loosen the screw, move the front fog light in the direction of the arrows, and adjust the center of the front fog light to the position shown in the figure.
  11. Install the bolt and tighten the screw.

  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Slightly bend back the mudguard.
  4. Disconnect the front fog light connector.
  5. Remove the front fog light bulb by turning it in the direction shown by the arrow. CAUTION: A halogen bulb generates extremely high heat when it is illuminated. If the surface of the bulb is soiled, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When handling the bulb, hold the flange, not the glass.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 39: FRONT SIDE TURN LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Move the front side turn light in the direction of the arrow (1) and detach the tab.
  4. Pull area A of the front side turn light in the direction of the arrow (2) and remove the front side turn light.
  5. Disconnect the front side turn light connector.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal. CAUTION: Always assemble the front side turn light with the tab towards the vehicle front.

  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the following parts: Rear package tray lid (See «REAR PACKAGE TRAY LID REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S18906244912006092100000) ). Sub-trunk Third-row seat (See «THIRD-ROW SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244372-S17463966512006092100000) ). Rear scuff plate (See «REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S08969594692006092100000) ). Trunk end trim (See «TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S41938693372006092100000) ). Third-row seat belt lower anchor installation bolt (See «THIRD-ROW SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244398-S28594203972006092100000) ). Cargo compartment light (See «CARGO COMPARTMENT LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244399-S02348388242006092100000) ). Trunk side trim (See «TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S40694322992006092100000) ).
  4. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 41: HIGH-MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the cover in the interior of the liftgate.
  4. Remove the nut.
  5. Disconnect the connector.
  6. Remove the high-mount brake light.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the liftgate trim. (See «LIFTGATE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S01318264362006092100000) ).
  4. While cutting the double-sided adhesive tape using a flathead screwdriver or razor, separate the cover from the body. WARNING: Using a razor with bare hands can cause injury. Always wear gloves when using a razor.
  5. Press the lens tabs in the direction indicated by the arrows and remove the lens.
  6. Remove the socket.
  7. Remove the license plate light bulb.
  8. Install in the reverse order of removal. Attach the double-sided adhesive tape to the cover as shown in the figure.

Scheme 44: BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the under cover.
  4. Drain the oil. (See «TRANSAXLE OIL REPLACEMENT [G35M-R]»(ref-244336-S32149369572006092100000) ).
  5. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector and remove the back-up light switch.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  7. Refill the oil. (See «TRANSAXLE OIL REPLACEMENT [G35M-R]»(ref-244336-S32149369572006092100000) ).

  1. Verify that the continuity between the back-up light switch terminals is as indicated in the table. If not as indicated in the table, replace the backup light switch.

  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the following parts: Driver-side air bag module (See «DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244347-S16479481112006092100000) ). Steering wheel (See «STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244338-S20307144292006092100000) ). Meter hood (See «METER HOOD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S34979483872006092100000) ). Column cover (See «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S33738517862006092100000) ). Clock spring (See «CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244347-S32651416752006092100000) ).
  4. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
  5. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 48: Combination Switch Removal Note
  1. Pull the combination switch locks in the direction indicated in the figure and disengage the tab.
  2. Pull the combination switch outward, then remove it.

Scheme 49: COMBINATION SWITCH DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY
  1. Disassemble in the order indicated in the table.
  2. Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly.

Scheme 50: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR INSPECTION
  1. Remove the meter hood (See «METER HOOD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S34979483872006092100000) ).
  2. Remove the column cover (See «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S33738517862006092100000) ).
  3. Remove the steering angle sensor connector.
  4. Connect battery positive voltage to terminal A and ground to terminal D of the steering angle sensor.
  5. Turn the steering wheel to the right and left, and verify that the voltage and pulses at the terminals are as shown in the figure. If not as specified, replace the steering angle sensor.

  1. Verify that the continuity between the front fog light switch terminals is as indicated in the table. If not as indicated in the table, replace the light switch.

Scheme 53: HAZARD WARNING SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]»(ref-244326-S41790335602006092100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the side wall. (See «SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S31703119622006092100000) ).
  4. Remove the front console. (See «FRONT CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244361-S03102331672006092100000) ).
  5. Remove the center panel unit. (See «CENTER PANEL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244348-S26058616022006092100000) ).
  6. Remove the LCD unit. (See «LCD UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-244348-S02908671002006092100000) ).
  7. Disconnect the hazard warning switch connector.
  8. Squeeze the tabs of hazard warning switch and pull it outward to remove it.
  9. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Verify that the continuity between the hazard switch terminals is as indicated in the table. If not as indicated in the table, replace the hazard warning switch.
