  1. A1 CHECK CIRCUIT GD126 (BK/WH) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Driver Door Module (DDM) C568b. Measure the resistance between DDM C568b-12, circuit GD126 (BK/WH) and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to A2. No : REPAIR circuit GD126 (BK/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. A2 CHECK CIRCUIT SBP15 (WH/RD) FOR AN OPEN Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between DDM C568b-10, circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/communication-devices/#module-communications-network) to diagnose the network concern. No : VERIFY SJB fuse 20 (7.5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

Under normal operation, the exterior mirror control switch receives power through circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) and ground through circuit GD126 (BK/WH). The exterior mirror control switch uses circuit CPM23 (GY) as the common circuit for both exterior mirror UP/DOWN and RIGHT/LEFT movement.

  1. Open in circuits SBP15 (WH/RD) or GD126 (BK/WH)
  2. Open, short to ground or short to power in circuit CPM23 (GY)
  3. Inoperative exterior mirror control switch

  1. B1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH - CIRCUIT SBP15 (WH/RD) Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C527. Measure the voltage between exterior mirror control switch C527-3, circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to B2. No : VERIFY SJB fuse 20 (7.5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. B2 CHECK CIRCUIT GD126 (BK/WH) FOR OPEN Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-1, circuit GD126 (BK/WH) and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to B3. No : REPAIR circuit GD126 (BK/WH) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. B3 CHECK CIRCUIT CPM23 (GY) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between exterior mirror control switch C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY) and ground. Is voltage indicated? Yes : REPAIR circuit CPM23 (GY) for a short to voltage. TEST the system for normal operation. No : GO to B4.
  4. B4 CHECK CIRCUIT CPM23 (GY) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Key in OFF position. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY) and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? Yes : GO to B5. No : REPAIR circuit CPM23 (GY) for a short to ground. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. B5 CHECK CIRCUIT CPM23 (GY) FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: LH Exterior Mirror C516 or C517. NOTE: With heated mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY) and LH exterior mirror C517-2, circuit CPM23 (GY). NOTE: Without heated mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY) and LH exterior mirror C516-2, circuit CPM23 (GY). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : REPAIR circuit CPM23 (GY) for an open. TEST system for normal operation.

Under normal operation, the exterior mirror control switch uses circuit CPM23 (GY) as the common circuit for both exterior mirror DOWN/UP and LEFT/RIGHT movement.

  1. C1 CHECK LH AND RH EXTERIOR MIRRORS Operate the exterior mirrors. Does the LH exterior mirror operate? Yes : GO to C2. No : GO to C4 .
  2. C2 CHECK CIRCUIT CPM23 (GY) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: RH Exterior Mirror C622 or C625. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C527. NOTE: With heated mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY) and RH exterior mirror C625-2, circuit CPM23 (GY). NOTE: Without heated mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY) and RH exterior mirror C622-2, circuit CPM23 (GY). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to C3. No : REPAIR circuit CPM23 (GY) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. C3 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH IN RH POSITION Place the exterior mirror control switch selector in the RIGHT exterior mirror position. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch terminals 7, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH) and terminal 3, circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) component side while holding the exterior mirror control switch in the DOWN position. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new RH mirror. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. C4 CHECK CIRCUIT CPM23 (GY) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: LH Exterior Mirror C516 or C517. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C527. NOTE: With heated mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY) and LH exterior mirror C517-2, circuit CPM23 (GY). NOTE: Without heated mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY) and LH exterior mirror C516-2, circuit CPM23 (GY). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to C5. No : REPAIR circuit CPM23 (GY) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. C5 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH IN THE LH POSITION Place the exterior mirror control switch selector in the LEFT exterior mirror position. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch pin 3, circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) and pin 8, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU), component side while holding the exterior mirror control switch in the DOWN position. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new LH mirror. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation.

Under normal operation, the exterior mirror control switch uses circuits CPM16 (BN/BU), CPM17 (BU/GN), CPM23 (GY), CPM20 (BN/WH) or CPM21 (YE/VT) to control the exterior mirror movement.

  1. When ground is received through circuit CPM16 (BN/BU) or CPM20 (BN/WH) and power through circuit CPM23 (GY), the LH or RH exterior mirror glass will move RIGHT.
  2. When power is received through circuit CPM16 (BN/BU) or CPM20 (BN/WH) and ground through circuit CPM23 (GY), the LH or RH exterior mirror glass will move LEFT.
  3. When power is received through circuit CPM17 (BU/GN) or CPM21 (YE/VT) and ground through circuit CPM23 (GY), the LH or RH exterior mirror glass will move DOWN.
  4. When ground is received through circuit CPM17 (BU/GN) or CPM21 (YE/VT) and power through circuit CPM23 (GY), the LH or RH exterior mirror will operate UP.

  1. D1 CHECK THE MIRROR MOVEMENT (RIGHT/LEFT) Operate the LH and RH exterior mirrors in the RIGHT and LEFT direction. Do the exterior mirrors move left and right? Yes : GO to D2. No : GO to D3 .
  2. D2 CHECK MIRROR MOVEMENT (DOWN/UP) Operate the LH and RH exterior mirrors in the DOWN and UP direction. Do the exterior mirrors move up and down? Yes : System is OK, review the operation of the power mirror system with the customer. No : GO to D4 .
  3. D3 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE MIRROR Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Inoperative Exterior Mirror C516/C517 (LH) or C622/C625 (RH). NOTE: Inoperative LH mirror. Measure the voltage between ground and LH exterior mirror: (With heated mirror) C517-3, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch RIGHT. (With heated mirror) C517-2, circuit CPM23 (GY) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch LEFT. (Without heated mirror) C516-3, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch RIGHT. (Without heated mirror) C516-2, circuit CPM23 (GY) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch LEFT. NOTE: Inoperative RH mirror. Measure the voltage between RH exterior mirror: (With heated mirror) C625-3, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch RIGHT. (With heated mirror) C625-2, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch LEFT. (Without heated mirror) C622-3, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch RIGHT. (Without heated mirror) 3622-2, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch LEFT. Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? Yes : INSTALL a new exterior mirror. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : GO to D5 .
  4. D4 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE MIRROR Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Inoperative Exterior Mirror C516/C517 (LH) or C622/C625 (RH). NOTE: Inoperative LH mirror. Measure the voltage between LH exterior mirror: (With heated mirror) C517-1, circuit CPM17 (BU/GN) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch DOWN. (With heated mirror) C517-2, circuit CPM23 (GY) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch UP. (Without heated mirror) C516-1, circuit CPM17 (BU/GN) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch DOWN. (Without heated mirror) C516-2, circuit CPM23 (GY) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch UP. NOTE: Inoperative RH mirror. Measure the voltage between RH exterior mirror: (With heated mirror) C625-1, circuit CPM21 (YE/VT) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch DOWN. (With heated mirror) C625-2, circuit CPM23 (GY) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch UP. (Without heated mirror) C622-1, circuit CPM21 (YE/VT) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch DOWN. (Without heated mirror) C622-2, circuit CPM23 (GY) while pressing the exterior mirror control switch UP. Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? Yes : INSTALL a new exterior mirror. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : GO to D6 .
  5. D5 CHECK CIRCUIT CPM16 (BN/BU) AND CIRCUIT CPM20 (BN/WH) FOR OPEN NOTE: Inoperative LH mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-8, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU) and: (With heated mirror) LH exterior mirror C517-3, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU). (Without heated mirror) LH exterior mirror C516-3, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU). NOTE: Inoperative RH mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-7, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH) and: (With heated mirror) RH exterior mirror C625-3, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH). (Without heated mirror) RH exterior mirror C622-3, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : REPAIR circuit CPM16 (BN/BU) or CPM20 (BN/WH) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. D6 CHECK CIRCUIT CPM17 (BU/GN) AND CPM21 (YE/VT) FOR OPEN NOTE: Inoperative LH mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-5, circuit CPM17 (BU/GN) and: (With heated mirror) LH exterior mirror C517-1, circuit CPM17 (BU/GN). (Without heated mirror) LH exterior mirror C516-1, circuit CPM17 (BU/GN). NOTE: Inoperative RH mirror. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-2, circuit CPM21 (YE/VT) and: (With heated mirror) RH exterior mirror C625-1, circuit CPM21 (YE/VT). (Without heated mirror) RH exterior mirror C622-1, circuit CPM21 (YE/VT). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : REPAIR circuit CPM17 (BU/GN) or CPM21 (YE/VT) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

Under normal operation, the exterior mirror control switch receives power from circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) and ground from circuit GD126 (BK/WH). The exterior mirror control switch sends input to the driver seat module (DSM) for the LH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits CPM16 (BN/BU), CPM17 (BU/GN) and CPM23 (GY) and for the RH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits CPM20 (BN/WH), CPM21 (YE/VT) and CPM23 (GY). The DSM will then send the appropriate power and ground for the LH exterior mirror motor DOWN/UP circuits CPM29 (GN), CPM26 (WH) and RIGHT/LEFT circuits CPM28 (BU/BN) and CPM27 (GY/BU) or the RH exterior mirror motor DOWN/UP circuits CPM34 (WH/BN), CPM31 (YE/GY) and RIGHT/LEFT circuits CPM32 (WH/BU) and CPM33 (WH/VT).

  1. An open, short to voltage or short to ground in circuits: CPM21 (YE/VT), CPM16 (BN/BU), CPM23 (GY), CPM20 (BN/WH), CPM17 (BU/GN), CPM32 (WH/BU), CPM33 (WH/VT), CPM34 (WH/BN), CPM31 (YE/GY), CPM27 (GY/BU), CPM28 (BU/BN), CPM29 (GN) or CPM26 (WH)

  1. E1 RETRIEVE THE DTCs FROM DRIVER SEAT MODULE (DSM) AND DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM) Use the recorded DSM and DDM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self tests. Are any DTCs retrieved? Yes : If DTC B1234, GO to E6 . If DTC B1667, B1668, B1669 or B1670, GO to E7 . If DTC B2223 or B2224, GO to E9 . No : CARRY OUT the exterior rear view mirror switch component test. Refer to «COMPONENT TESTING»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/accessories-control-systems/#component-testing) . If the switch tests good, GO to E2.
  2. E2 CHECK CIRCUIT SBP15 (WH/RD) FOR VOLTAGE Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C527. Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between exterior mirror control switch C527-3, circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to E3. No : VERIFY SJB fuse 20 (7.5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit SBP15 (WH/RD) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. E3 CHECK CIRCUIT GD126 (BK/WH) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch C527-1, circuit GD126 (BK/WH) and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to E4. No : REPAIR circuit GD126 (BK/WH) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. E4 CHECK CIRCUITS CPM21 (YE/VT), CPM17 (BU/GN), CPM20 (BN/WH), CPM16 (BN/BU) AND CPM23 (GY) FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: Driver Door Module (DDM) C568b. Measure the resistance between exterior mirror control switch: C527-7, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH) and DDM C568b-5, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH). C527-8, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU) and DDM C568b-7, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU). C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY) and DDM C568b-18, circuit CPM23 (GY). C527-5, circuit CPM17 (BU/GN) and DDM C568b-17, circuit CPM17 (BU/GN). C527-2, circuit CPM21 (YE/VT) and DDM C568b-6, circuit CPM21 (YE/VT). Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to E5. No : REPAIR the circuit(s) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

E5 CHECK CIRCUITS CPM21 (YE/VT), CPM17 (BU/GN), CPM20 (BN/WH), CPM16 (BN/BU) AND CPM23 (GY) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Measure the resistance between ground and exterior mirror control switch: C527-7, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH). C527-8, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU). C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY). C527-5, circuit CPM17 (BU/GN). C527-2, circuit CPM21 (YE/VT). Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? Yes : If both mirrors are inoperative or the LH mirror only is inoperative, INSTALL a new DDM. TEST the system for normal operation. If the RH mirror only is inoperative and the power seats operate normally, INSTALL a new DDM. TEST the system for normal operation. If the RH mirror only is inoperative and the power seats do not operate normally, REFER to «SEATING»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/seats/#seating) . No : REPAIR the circuit(s) for a short to ground. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. E6 CHECK CIRCUITS CPM21 (YE/VT), CPM17 (BU/GN), CPM20 (BN/WH), CPM16 (BN/BU) AND CPM23 (GY) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between ground and exterior mirror control switch: C527-7, circuit CPM20 (BN/WH). C527-8, circuit CPM16 (BN/BU). C527-6, circuit CPM23 (GY). C527-5, circuit CPM17 (BU/GN). C527-2, circuit CPM21 (YE/VT). Is voltage indicated? Yes : REPAIR the circuit(s) for a short to voltage. TEST the system for normal operation. No : INSTALL a new DDM. TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. E7 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR FOR VOLTAGE FROM THE DSM Key in OFF position. Disconnect: LH Exterior Mirror C522. NOTE: For DTC B1667 or B1668. Disconnect: LH Exterior Mirror C676. NOTE: For DTC B1669 or B1670. Key in ON position. NOTE: For DTC B1667. Measure the voltage between LH exterior mirror C522-2, circuit CPM26 (WH) and C522-1, circuit CPM29 (GN) while toggling the DDM Side view Power Mirror Output Control active commands Driver's Mirror Up and Driver's Mirror Down to Enabled and Disabled. NOTE: For DTC B1668. Measure the voltage between LH exterior mirror C522-4, circuit CPM28 (BU/BN) and C522-3, circuit CPM27 (GY/BU) harness side while toggling the DDM Sideview Power Mirror Output Control active commands Driver's Mirror Left and Driver's Mirror Right to Enabled and Disabled. NOTE: For DTC B1669. Measure the voltage between RH exterior mirror C626-1, circuit CPM34 (WH/BN) and C626-2, circuit CPM31 (YE/GY) harness side while toggling the DSM Sideview Power Mirror Output Control active commands Passenger's Mirror Up and Passenger's Mirror Down to Enabled and Disabled. NOTE: For DTC B1670. Measure the voltage between RH exterior mirror C626-3, circuit CPM32 (WH/BU) and C626-4, circuit CPM33 (WH/VT) harness side while toggling the DSM Sideview Power Mirror Output Control active commands Passenger's Mirror Left and Passenger's Mirror Right to ON and OFF. Does the voltage swing from 0 volt to + 12 volts when each active command is toggled on? Yes : INSTALL a new exterior mirror motor. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : GO to E8.
  8. E8 CHECK CIRCUITS CPM26 (WH), CPM29 (GN), CPM28 (BU/BN) AND CPM27 (GY/BU) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. NOTE: For DTC B1667 or B1668. Disconnect: Driver Door Module (DDM) C568a. NOTE: For DTC B1669 or B1670. Disconnect: Driver Seat Module (DSM) C3299d. NOTE: For DTC B1667. Measure the resistance between LH exterior mirror: C522-4, circuit CPM28 (BU/BN) and DDM C568a-2, circuit CPM28 (BU/BN). C522-3, circuit CPM27 (GY/BU) and DDM C568a-4, circuit CPM27 (GY/BU). NOTE: For DTC B1669. Measure the resistance between RH exterior mirror: C626-1, circuit CPM34 (WH/BN) and DSM C3299d-3, circuit CPM34 (WH/BN). C626-2, circuit CPM31 (YE/GY) and DSM C3299d-4, circuit CPM31 (YE/GY). NOTE: For DTC B1670. Disconnect: Driver Door Module (DDM) C568a. NOTE: For DTC B1669 or B1670. Disconnect: LH Exterior Mirror C626. NOTE: For DTC B1669 or B1670. Disconnect: Driver Seat Module (DSM) C3299d. NOTE: For DTC B2223. Measure the resistance between ground and the LH exterior mirror: C522-2, circuit CPM26 (WH). C522-1, circuit CPM29 (GN). C522-4, circuit CPM28 (BU/BN). C522-3, circuit CPM27 (GY/BU). NOTE: For DTC B2224. Measure the resistance between ground and RH exterior mirror: C626-1, circuit CPM34 (WH/BN). C626-2, circuit CPM31 (YE/GY).   10. E10 CHECK CIRCUITS CPM26 (WH), CPM29 (GN), CPM28 (BU/BN) AND CPM27 (GY/BU) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Key in ON position. NOTE: For DTC B2223. Measure the voltage between ground and the LH exterior mirror: C522-2, circuit CPM26 (WH). C522-1, circuit CPM29 (GN). C522-4, circuit CPM28 (BU/BN). C522-3, circuit CPM27 (GY/BU). NOTE: For DTC B2224. Measure the voltage between ground and RH exterior mirror: C626-1, circuit CPM34 (WH/BN). C626-2, circuit CPM31 (YE/GY). C626-3, circuit CPM32 (WH/BU). C626-4, circuit CPM33 (WH/VT). Is voltage indicated? Yes : REPAIR the circuit(s) for a short to voltage. TEST the system for normal operation. No : For DTC B2223, INSTALL a new DDM. TEST the system for normal operation. For DTC B2224, INSTALL a new DSM. TEST the system for normal operation.

Under normal operation, the memory set switch receives ground from circuits GD126 (BK/WH) and 1203 (BK/LB). When the driver seat module (DSM) receives input from the memory set button circuit CPS14 (GY/VT), the DSM will save current mirror settings using the inputs from the position sensors in the exterior mirrors. When the DSM receives input from the memory set switch button 1, circuit CPS15 (VT/WH) or button 2, circuit CPS16 (YE), the DSM will adjust the mirrors according to the stored position.

The DSM receives input on the position of the LH exterior mirror from circuits VPM36 (BN/YE), B_LPM30 (GY/VT), B_RPM30 (YE), VPM35 (YE/BU) and 894 (GY) and from the RH exterior mirror from circuits VPM37 (BU/OG), VPM38 (BN/GN), 891 (GY/RD), A_RPM30 (YE) and A_LPM30 (GY/VT).

  1. F1 RETRIEVE THE DTCs FROM DRIVER SEAT MODULE (DSM) AND DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM) Use the recorded DSM and DDM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self tests. Are any DTCs retrieved? Yes : If DTC B1530, B1534 or B1538, CARRY OUT the memory switch component test. If the switch tests good, GO to F3. If both DTC B2312 and B2316 or both DTC B2320 and B2324, GO to F4 . If DTC B2312, B2316, B2320 or B2324 only, GO to F7 . If DTC B2314, B2318, B2322 or B2326 only, GO to F10 . No : CARRY OUT the memory switch «COMPONENT TEST»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors__component-test) . If the switch tests good, GO to F2.
  2. F2 CHECK CIRCUITS CPS15 (VT/WH), CPS16 (YE), CPS14 (GY/VT) AND CPS55 (YE) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Memory Switch C503. Disconnect: Driver Door Module (DDM) C568a and C568b. Measure the resistance between memory switch: C503-2, circuit CPS15 (VT/WH) and DDM C568b-4, circuit CPS15 (VT/WH). C503-6, circuit CPS16 (YE) and DDM C568b-16, circuit CPS16 (YE). C503-5, circuit CPS14 (GY/VT) and DDM C568b-3, circuit CPS14 (GY/VT). C503-1, circuit CPS55 (YE) and DDM C568a-10, circuit CPS55 (YE). Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? Yes : If both mirrors are inoperative or the LH mirror only is inoperative, INSTALL a new DDM. TEST the system for normal operation. If the RH mirror only is inoperative and the power seats operate normally, INSTALL a new DDM. TEST the system for normal operation. If the RH mirror only is inoperative and the power seats do not operate normally, REFER to «SEATING»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/seats/#seating) . No : REPAIR the circuit(s) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. F3 CHECK CIRCUITS CPS15 (VT/WH), CPS16 (YE), CPS14 (GY/VT) AND CPS55 (YE) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Memory Switch C503. Disconnect: Driver Door Module (DDM) C568a and C568b. Measure the resistance between ground and memory switch: C503-2, circuit CPS15 (VT/WH). C503-6, circuit CPS16 (YE). C503-5, circuit CPS14 (GY/VT). C503-1, circuit CPS55 (YE). Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new DDM. TEST the system for normal operation. No : REPAIR the circuit(s) for a short to ground. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. F4 CHECK MIRROR RESISTANCE Key in OFF position. NOTE: DTC B2320 and B2324. Disconnect: Driver Door Module (DDM) C568a and C568b. NOTE: DTC B2312 and B2316. Disconnect: Driver Seat Module (DSM) C3299c. NOTE: DTC B2320 and B2324. Measure the resistance between DDM C568a-9, circuit B_RPM30 (YE) and DDM C568b-19, circuit B_LPM30 (GY/VT). NOTE: DTC B2312 and B2316. Measure the resistance between DSM C3299C-17, circuit A_RPM30 (YE) and DSM C3299c-5, circuit A_LPM30 (GY/VT). Is the resistance between 10 and 25,000 ohms? Yes : GO to F5. No : GO to F6 .
  5. F5 CHECK FEED CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND NOTE: DTC B2320 and B2324. Disconnect: LH Mirror C522. NOTE: DTC B2312 and B2316. Disconnect: RH Mirror C625. NOTE: DTC B2320 and B2324. Measure the resistance between ground and DDM C568b-19, circuit B_LPM30 (GY/VT). NOTE: DTC B2312 and B2316. Measure the resistance between ground and DSM C3299c-5, circuit A_LPM30 (GY/VT). Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? Yes : DTC B2312 and B2316, INSTALL a new DSM. TEST the system for normal operation. DTC B2320 and B2324, INSTALL a new DDM. TEST the system for normal operation. No : REPAIR the circuit(s) for a short to ground. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. F6 CHECK FEED AND RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN NOTE: DTC B2320 and B2324. Disconnect: LH Mirror C522. NOTE: DTC B2312 and B2316. Disconnect: RH Mirror C625. NOTE: DTC B2320 and B2324. Measure the resistance between LH mirror: C522-13, circuit B_LPM30 (GY/VT) and DDM C568b-19, circuit B_LPM30 (GY/VT). C522-16, circuit B_RPM30 (YE) and DDM C568b-9, circuit B_RPM30 (YE).   7. F7 CHECK MIRROR RESISTANCE Key in OFF position. NOTE: DTC B2320 or B2324. Disconnect: Driver Door Module (DDM) C568a and C568b. NOTE: DTC B2312 or B2316. Disconnect: Driver Seat Module (DSM) C3299c. NOTE: DTC B2320. Measure the resistance between DDM C568a-7, circuit VPM35 (YE/BU) and: DDM C568b-19, circuit B_LPM30 (GY/VT). DDM C568b-9, circuit B_RPM30 (YE). NOTE: DTC B2324. Measure the resistance between DDM C568a-1, circuit VPM36 (BN/YE) and: DDM C568b-19, circuit B_LPM30 (GY/VT). DDM C568b-9, circuit B_RPM30 (YE). Under normal operation, when the rear window defrost is ON the exterior mirrors receive power from the heated grid relay through circuit CBP16 (BU/OG) and ground through circuit GD126 (BK/WH).

  1. G1 CHECK THE HEATED REAR WINDOW OPERATION Key in ON position. Depress the heated rear window switch to ON. Does the heated rear window operate correctly? Yes : GO to G2. No : REFER to «GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/heated-glassdefoggers/#glass-frames-and-mechanisms) to diagnose the heated rear window system.
  2. G2 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR FOR POWER Disconnect: Inoperative Exterior Mirror C517/C625 or Memory Mirror C522/C626 (if equipped). Depress the heated rear window switch to ON. NOTE: With memory mirrors. Measure the voltage between ground and inoperative exterior mirror (LH) C522-6 or (RH) C626-6, circuit CBP16 (BU/OG). NOTE: Without memory mirrors. Measure the voltage between ground and inoperative exterior mirror (LH) C517-5 or (RH) C625-5, circuit CBP16 (BU/OG). Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to G3. No : VERIFY the smart junction box (SJB) fuse 9 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit CBP16 (BU/OG) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. G3 CHECK THE EXTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN NOTE: With memory mirrors. Measure the resistance between ground and inoperative exterior mirror (LH) C522-7, circuit GD126 (BK/WH) or (RH) C626-7, circuit GD139 (BK/YE). NOTE: Without memory mirrors. Measure the resistance between ground and inoperative exterior mirror (LH) C517-6, circuit GD126 (BK/WH) or (RH) C625-6, circuit GD139 (BK/YE). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new exterior mirror glass. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR GLASS»(/lincoln/zephyr/us-2006-2006/remont/mirrors/#rear-view-mirrors) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : REPAIR circuit GD126 (BK/WH) or GD139 (BK/YE) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

Under normal operation, the auto-dimming mirror receives power from circuit A_CBP02 (GN) and ground from circuit GD139 (BK/YE). If the vehicle is placed in REVERSE, voltage is sent to circuit CBP12 (GN/WH) and the auto-dimming mirror will turn the dimming feature OFF.

When the dimming is activated, voltage is sent from the interior mirror to the LH exterior mirror though circuit LRD12 (BU/GY). Ground for the LH exterior mirror is provided by the interior mirror through circuit RRD12 (BN).
