Four-Wheel Drive Systems - All-Wheel Drive (AWD)

The one speed, all-wheel drive (AWD) system utilizes a fully automatic, torque on demand (TOD) transfer case without a shift motor. Operator interfaces and warning displays are provided through the instrument cluster message center. The message center allows the operator to enable and disable the AWD function. For additional information on the message center, refer to «INFORMATION, GAUGES & WARNING DEVICES». The message center communicates with the four-wheel drive control module through the universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART)-based protocol (UBP) network. The four-wheel drive control module is located in the center console, between the driver and passenger front seats and controls the transfer case clutch.
