Normal Operation

The VAPS module operates at a voltage between 10 and 17 volts. Voltage is supplied by circuit 1001 (WH/YE) (B+ at all times) and circuit 1003 (GY/YE) (ignition feed). Ground is provided through circuit 1205 (BK).

The VAPS module operates at a voltage between 10 and 17 volts. Voltage is supplied by circuit 1001 (WH/YE) (B+ at all times) and circuit 1003 (GY/YE) (ignition feed). Ground is provided through circuit 1205 (BK).

When the vehicle is moving, the PCM sends a vehicle speed signal (VSS) through circuit 679 (GY/BK) to the VAPS module.

The VAPS module sends the VAPS solenoid a 12 volt reference voltage through circuit 412 (OG/LB). The VAPS solenoid sends a feedback voltage to the VAPS module, (depending on power steering assist demand), through circuit 413 (DB).

The ignition switch receives overload protected B+ power from the BJB fuse 41 (30A) through circuit 37 (YE). The ignition switch has three possible states

  1. OFF.
  2. ACC/RUN.
  3. START.

The ignition switch ACC/RUN circuit sends 12 volts through 687 (GY/YE) (on the CJB input side fuse 15 [5A]) and circuit 295 (LB/PK) (on the CJB output side fuse 15 [5A]) to the instrument cluster. The ignition switch RUN/START circuit sends 12 volts through 16 (RD/LG) (on the CJB input side fuse 30 [5A]) and circuit 489 (PK/BK) (on the CJB output side fuse 30 [5A]) to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster monitors the output voltage from the ignition circuit and if an open circuit is detected, DTC B1360 will be set.
