SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The power seat is standard equipment for the front seats. A memory system is provided for the front seats as standard equipment.
  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT The following functions are available. MAIN COMPONENT FUNCTION CHART Components Function Power seat motor (slide motor) Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and seat slides forward and rearward. Power seat motor (reclining motor) Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and seat tilts and reclines. Power seat motor (slide motor) Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and seat cushion slides. Power seat motor (front vertical motor) Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and seat front vertical raises and lowers. Power seat motor (lifter motor) Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and seat rear vertical raises and lowers. Lumbar support adjuster motor Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and lumbar support can be adjusted. Position control sensor (reclining, lifter, slide, front vertical control) Is built into each front seat adjuster and sends seat position data to position control ECU so that it can detect seat positions at all times. Front power seat switch (reclining, lifter, slide, front vertical) Based on switches operated, seat adjuster signals are input into position control ECU and seat is adjusted accordingly. Lumbar front power seat switch Based on switches operated, seat adjuster signals are input into position control ECU and seat is adjusted accordingly. Seat memory switch (set switch, memory switch) When set switch and memory switch are pressed simultaneously, SET, 1 or 2 switch is input to multiplex network door ECU front and seat position is recorded. Then, when memory switch is pressed, SET, 1 or 2 switch is input to multiplex network door ECU front and seat position changes according to memory.
  3. SYSTEM OPERATION The front power seat's adjustment and position memory are shown in the chart below. Then, either the seat position is recorded in memory or a previously recorded seat position is recalled.

DESCRIPTION

Signals of the front power switch are monitored by the position control ECU. The ECU then activates the driver and front passenger side motors.

  1. INSPECT FUSE (D P/SEAT, P P/SEAT, MPX-IG, MPX-B1, D/C CUT, AM1) Remove the D P/SEAT MPX-IG and AM1 fuses from the driver side junction block. Remove the P P/SEAT and MPX-B1 fuses from the front passenger side junction block. Remove the D/C CUT fuse from the engine room No. 1 relay block. Measure the resistance of the fuses. Standard resistance: Below 1 ohms NG: REPLACE FUSE OK: Go to Next Step
  2. INSPECT IGNITION RELAY NO. 1 (Scheme 1): Identifying IG1 Relay Remove the IG1 relay from the driver side junction block. Measure the resistance of the relay. Standard resistance RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION Tester Connection Specified Condition 3-5 10 kohms or higher 3-5 Below 1 ohms (when battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2) NG: REPLACE IGNITION RELAY NO. 1 OK: Go to Next Step
  3. CHECK FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL FUNCTION Check that each function of the power seat operates normally by using the front power seat switches.   4. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH) Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the front power seat switch.   5. INSPECT FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH (SLIDE SWITCH, FRONT VERTICAL SWITCH, LIFTER SWITCH, RECLINING SWITCH) Measure the resistance between the terminals when each switch is operated.   6. INSPECT POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSEMBLY (SLIDE MOTOR, VERTICAL MOTOR, LIFTER MOTOR, RECLINING MOTOR) Check the operation of the slide motor. Check the motor rotation when the battery is connected to the slide motor connector terminals.   7. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POSITION CONTROL ECU LH - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the P21, P22, P23 or P24 ECU connectors. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connectors.   8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (LUMBAR FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH - POSITION CONTROL ECU AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the L27 or L28 switch connector. Disconnect the P22 or P24 ECU connector. (Scheme 9): Identifying L27 Or L28 Switch Connector And P22 Or P24 ECU Connector Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors. Standard resistance: for Driver Side RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION Tester Connection Specified Condition L27-4 (B2) - P22-8 (+B) Below 1 ohms L27-3 (E2) - Body ground Below 1 ohms for Front Passenger Side RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION Tester Connection Specified Condition L28-1 (B) - P24-8 (+B) Below 1 L28-2 (E) - Body ground Below 1 ohms NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to Next Step
  9. INSPECT LUMBAR FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH (Scheme 10): Inspecting Lumbar Front Power Seat Switch Remove the switch. Measure the resistance of the seat switch.   10. CHECK POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSEMBLY (LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER MOTOR) Check the operation of the lumbar support adjuster motor. (Scheme 11): Checking Operation Of Lumbar Support Adjuster Motor Check the motor rotation when the battery is connected to the lumbar support adjuster motor connector terminals. When the set button of the memory adjusting switch is pressed, the multiplex network door ECU front directs the position control ECU to memorize the value of each position sensor.

  2. CHECK SEAT MEMORY SWITCH FUNCTION (SEAT MEMORY FUNCTION) Correctly perform a memorizing operation, and then check whether the memory functions normally or the buzzer sounds to indicate that the memorizing operation has been completed. NOTE: The memory does not function when the SET, M1 and M2 switches are simultaneously pressed. If a memorizing operation has failed, release all switches. The seat memory function does not operate unless the switches are released. OK: NORMAL NG: Go to Next Step

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SEAT MEMORY SWITCH - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT [DOOR ECU]) Disconnect the D20 or S29 switch connector. Disconnect the D18 or P10 ECU connector. (Scheme 13): Identifying D20 Or S29 Switch Connector And D18 Or P10 ECU Connector Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.   6. REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT (DOOR ECU) After replacing the multiplex network door ECU front, check that the front power seat control functions operate normally using the front seat switches and seat memory switch. NG: REPLACE SEAT MEMORY SWITCH OK: END (MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT IS DEFECTIVE)

When the memory adjusting switches M1 and M2 are pressed, the multiplex network door ECU front LH and RH (driver and front passenger door ECU) direct the position control ECU to drive each motor unit until the seat reaches the memorized position.

The ignition switch is ON and the shift lever is on P. The ignition switch is ON, the shift lever is on N and the vehicle is stopped. The driver side door is open and no key is inserted in the ignition switch. Result: RESULT CHART Result Proceed to Reproducing operation does not work for all conditions.   4. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the seat memory switch, unlock warning switch, front door courtesy light switch (for driver side), ignition switch and PNP switch.   5. CHECK FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER SUB-ASSEMBLY OUTER (POSITION CONTROL SENSOR) Turn the ignition switch ON. Measure the voltage of the ECU connector.   1. GENERAL By operating the dial-type seat heater control switch, which is located in the console box, the temperature can be controlled steplessly within the range of 30 to 40°C (86 to 104°F). Whether the seat heater is ON or OFF can be determined by the seat heater control switch indicator light ON or OFF status. The seat heater of both seats are controlled by the seat heater ECU, which is located above the respective seat ECU.
