  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
  2. Remove the antenna nut and antenna ornament of the antenna assembly.
  3. Press AM and DISC simultaneously and turn the ignition switch to ACC. The radio display will show ANT and the antenna mast will extend to its maximum length. 1 AM Switch 2 DISC Switch
  4. Once extended to the maximum length, pull the antenna mast out from the antenna assembly. Leave the ignition switch in ACC.
  5. Insert the replacement antenna mast into the antenna assembly until it reaches the bottom. HINT: Orient the teeth on the antenna mast cable towards the rear of the vehicle. 1 Antenna Mast Cable 2 Rear of Vehicle
  6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK and allow for the antenna mast to retract fully. HINT: If the cable is not properly oriented, the antenna mast may not fully retract even though the motor works. In this case, perform steps 1, 3, 5, and 6 again.
  7. Install the antenna ornament.
  8. Tighten the antenna nut of the antenna assembly.
  9. Confirm that the antenna mast retracts and extends correctly.

  1. INSPECT WINDOW GLASS (ANTENNA WIRE) NOTE: When cleaning the glass, wipe the glass along the wire using a soft, dry cloth. Take care not to damage the defogger wires. Do not use detergents or glass cleaners that have abrasive ingredients. When measuring voltage, wrap a piece of tin foil around the tip of the negative (-) tester probe and press the foil against the wire with your finger, as shown in the illustration. (Scheme 124): Inspecting Wind Glass Antenna Wire Turn the ignition switch ON (IG). Turn the defogger switch on. Measure the voltage at the center of each defogger wire as shown in the illustration. (Scheme 125): Measuring Voltage At Center Of Defogger Wire Standard voltage TERMINALS VOLTAGE CHART Voltage Criteria Approx. 5 V Wire is not broken Approx. 10 or 0 V Wire is broken Place the voltmeter's positive (+) lead against the defogger wire on the battery side. Place the voltmeter's negative (-) lead with the foil strip against the wire on the ground side. Slide the positive (+) lead from the battery side to the ground side. The point where the voltage drops from approximately 10 V to 0 V is where the defogger wire is broken. HINT: If the defogger wire is not broken, the voltmeter indicates 0 V at the positive (+) end of the defogger wire and gradually increases to approximately 12 V as the meter probe moves to the other end. 1. REPAIR WINDOW GLASS (ANTENNA WIRE) Clean the broken wire tips with grease, wax and silicone remover. Place the masking tape along both sides of the wire to be repaired. Thoroughly mix the repair agent (DuPont paste No. 4817). (Scheme 127): Placing Masking Tape Along Both Sides Of Wire Using a fine tip brush, apply a small amount of agent to the wire. After a few minutes, remove the masking tape. Do not repair the defogger wire for at least 24 hours. (Scheme 128): Applying Small Amount Of Mixed Repair Agent To Wire Using Fine Tip Brush
