- ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter. Refer to «CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [03/2012 - ]»(ref-602768-S33468115622014030500000) . NOTE: Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing this operation. HINT: Performing the above operation disables the auto tilt away function when the engine switch is turned off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly. Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. WARNING: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system. NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [03/2012 - 07/2012]»(ref-602551-S24591545042014030500000) .

- REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER NOTE: Removing the lower steering column cover in the incorrect order will cause the parts to break. Disengage the 4 clips and 2 guides to separate the instrument panel cluster finish panel from the upper steering column cover. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Instrument Panel Cluster Finish Panel Remove the 3 screws. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the lower steering column cover. NOTE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.
- REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER Disengage the claw to remove the upper steering column cover.
- REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connectors from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly. Using pliers, expand the clamp. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Clamp *2 Claw While holding the clamp expanded, raise the claw using a screwdriver to disengage it, and then remove the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.
- SEPARATE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Loosen the bolt. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and power steering link assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Matchmark NOTE: Do not separate the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the power steering link assembly. Remove the bolt. Separate the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the power steering link assembly.
- REMOVE STEERING POST ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connector from the power steering ECU assembly. Disconnect the connector from the power steering ECU assembly. HINT: As shown in the illustration, turn the lock lever to disconnect the connector. Disconnect the connectors and disengage the wire harness clamps from the steering post assembly. Disengage the 2 wire harness clamps. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts, and steering post assembly.

- SEPARATE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Loosen the bolt. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and power steering link assembly. Separate the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the power steering link assembly.
- REMOVE STEERING POST ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connector from the power steering ECU assembly. Disconnect the connector from the power steering ECU assembly. HINT: As shown in the illustration, turn the lock lever to disconnect the connector. Disconnect the connectors and disengage the wire harness clamps from the steering post assembly. Disengage the 2 wire harness clamps. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts, and steering post assembly.
- REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Remove the bolt. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Matchmark Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering column assembly. Remove the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering column assembly.

- INSTALL STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft sub-assembly and steering column assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Matchmark Install the bolt. Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL STEERING POST ASSEMBLY Check that the 2 bushings are securely installed to the steering column assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Bushing HINT: If the bushings are missing or damaged, replace the steering column assembly with a new one. Install the steering post assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts. Bolt Torque: 36 N*m (367 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf) Nut Torque: 25 N*m (255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf) Engage the 2 wire harness clamps. Connect the connectors and engage the wire harness clamps to the steering post assembly. Connect the connector to the power steering ECU assembly. HINT: As shown in the illustration, securely return the lock lever to its original position to connect the connector. Connect the connector to the power steering ECU assembly.
- CONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and power steering link assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Matchmark Install the bolt. Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) Install the steering intermediate shaft sub-assembly to the steering column hole shield. Tighten the bolt.

- INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Using pliers, expand the clamp. Return the clamp to its original position. Connect the connectors to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.

- INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER Engage the 2 claws to install the lower steering column cover to the upper steering column cover. NOTE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch. Install the 3 screws. Torque: 2.0 N*m (20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf) Engage the 4 clips and 2 guides to install the instrument panel cluster finish panel to the upper steering column cover.
