INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY Install the oil pump assembly with the 2 nuts. Torque: 7.0 N*m (71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 oil cooler hoses. Connect the oil cooler connector.

4. REMOVE OIL NO.1 COOLER ASSEMBLY Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses. Remove the 3 bolts, and oil cooler assembly. Remove the 3 bolts and air duct.

1. INSTALL OIL NO.1 COOLER ASSEMBLY Install the air duct with the 3 bolts. Torque: 4.9 N*m (50 kgf*cm, 43 in.*lbf) Install the oil cooler assembly with the 3 bolts. Torque: 4.9 N*m (50 kgf*cm, 43 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 oil cooler hoses.

8. SEPARATE ENGINE WIRE Remove the bolt and ground wire. Disconnect the wire harnesses from the clamps. Disconnect the connectors. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 clamps.
9. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE COVER Remove the bolt and clamp. Remove the bolt, clip and case cover from the hybrid transaxle.
10. REMOVE WATER HOSE Disconnect the water hose from the hybrid transaxle.
11. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET FRONT Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting bracket.
12. REMOVE OIL COOLER INLET TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Oil Cooler) Remove the bolt and oil cooler tube clamp. Using SST and a wrench, disconnect the oil cooler inlet tube. SST 09023-12701
13. REMOVE OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Oil Cooler) Using SST and a wrench, disconnect the oil cooler outlet tube. SST 09023-12701 Remove the bolt and oil cooler tube bracket.
14. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET NO.1 Remove the 2 bolts and transmission control cable bracket No.1.
15. REMOVE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY Remove the 8 bolts. Separate and remove the hybrid vehicle transaxle. NOTE: Do not pry out the connection between the transaxle assembly and engine more than necessary to prevent the knock pin from being damaged.

1. INSTALL HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY Make sure that the knock pins are installed on the engine. Install the hybrid vehicle transaxle and the 8 bolts shown in the illustration to the engine. Torque: Bolt A 64 N*m (653 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf) Torque: Bolt B 46 N*m (469 kgf*cm, 34 ft.*lbf) Torque: Bolt C 64 N*m (653 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf) Torque: Bolt D 37 N*m (377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not reuse bolt B. Do not forcibly pry out the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly Do not apply the grease either to the spline or to the input shaft. 2. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET NO.1 Install the control cable bracket No.1 and 2 new bolts. Torque: 12 N*m (120 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)
3. INSTALL OIL COOLER INLET TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Oil Cooler) Install the oil cooler tube bracket and bolt. Torque: 8.2 N*m (84 kgf*cm, 73 in.*lbf) Using SST and a wrench, tighten the new oil cooler inlet tube. Torque: 34 N*m (350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf) SST 09023-12701
4. INSTALL OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Oil Cooler) Using SST and a wrench, tighten the new oil cooler outlet tube. Torque: 34 N*m (350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf) SST 09023-12701 Install the oil cooler tube clamp and bolt. Torque: 7.0 N*m (71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf)
5. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET FRONT Install the engine mounting bracket front with the 3 bolts. Torque: 64 N*m (653 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf)
6. INSTALL WATER HOSE Install the water hose with the clamp.
7. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE COVER Install the case cover with the bolt and clip. Install the wire harness bracket with the bolt. Torque: 8.4 N*m (86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf)
8. CONNECT ENGINE WIRE Install the 4 wire harness brackets with the bolts. Torque: 8.4 N*m (86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf) Connect the connector. Connect the wire harnesses to the wire harness clamp. Install the ground wire with the bolt. Torque: 8.4 N*m (86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf)
9. INSTALL FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER Remove the 2 bolts and flywheel housing under cover. Torque: 7.8 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 69 in.*lbf)

1. CHECK SHIFT LOCK OPERATION Adjust the shift lever to the P position. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. Check that the shift lever cannot be adjusted to any position other than P. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, depress the brake pedal and check that the shift lever can be adjusted to the other positions.
2. CHECK SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON OPERATION Using a screwdriver, remove the shift lock release cover. When operating the shift lever with the shift lock release button pressed, check that the lever can be adjusted to any position other than P.
3. CHECK KEY INTERLOCK OPERATION Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Depress the brake pedal and adjust the shift lever to any position other than P. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to the LOCK position. Adjust the shift lever to the P position, turn the ignition key to the LOCK position and check that the ignition key can be removed.
4. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY Measure the voltage according to the values in the table below. HINT: Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector. 15. SEPARATE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY Using a screwdriver, disconnect the cable end from the shift lever assembly. Pull out the stopper cap of the transmission control cable assembly. Turn the socket of the transmission control cable counterclockwise and remove the stopper cap. NOTE: Do not push in the stopper cap.
16. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER Disconnect the pattern select switch connector, the shift lock control computer connector and the indicator light wire connector. Remove the 4 nuts and disconnect the shift lever assembly from the vehicle.

1. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING Using a screwdriver, remove the position indicator housing from the shift lever assembly. NOTE: Do not damage the position indicator housing.
2. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON COVER Using a screwdriver, remove the shift lock release button cover from the position indicator housing assembly.
3. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON Remove the shift lock release button, spring and cover from the position indicator housing. NOTE: Do not damage the position indicator housing.
4. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR LIGHT GUIDE Using a screwdriver, remove the position indicator light guide from the shift lever assembly.
5. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER Remove the position indicator slide cover from the position indicator housing lower.
6. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER NO.2 Remove the position indicator slide cover No.2 from the position indicator slide cover.
7. REMOVE INDICATOR LIGHT WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY Remove the indicator light wire sub-assembly from the shift lever assembly.
8. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER WIRE GUIDE Remove the shift lever wire guide No. 1 from the indicator light wire.
9. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING LOWER Remove the position indicator housing lower from the shift lock control unit.

1. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION Apply the parking brake. Lock the wheels with chocks to secure the vehicle. Put the vehicle into the READY-on state. Move the shift lever to the D position and release the brake pedal. NOTE: Be sure to apply the parking brake and lock the wheels with chocks to secure the vehicle. Slowly move the shift lever to the N position and measure moving distance (A) of the shift lever from the original point to the gear activation point. NOTE: Be sure to move the shift lever slowly. Move the shift lever to the R position and release the brake pedal. NOTE: Be sure to apply the parking brake and lock the wheels with chocks to secure the vehicle. Slowly move the shift lever to the N position and measure moving distance (B) of the shift lever from the original point to the vehicle activation point. NOTE: Be sure to move the shift lever slowly. Check that moving distances (A) and (B) shown in the illustration are almost the same. HINT: If moving distances (A) and (B) are almost the same, adjustment of the shift lever position is not necessary. If moving distance (A) is shorter than (B), perform adjustment of the shift lever position [*1]. If moving distance (B) is shorter than (A), perform adjustment of the shift lever position [*2].
2. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION If moving distance (A) is shorter than (B) [*1]: HINT: If the shift lever is moved from the R to N position, the moving distance of the shift lever from the original point to the gear activation point becomes longer. Move the shift lever to the N position. Loosen the 2 bolts. Slightly turn the park/neutral position switch counterclockwise. Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration. Torque: 13 N*m (133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) Recheck the shift lever position. If moving distance (B) is shorter than (A) [*2]: HINT: If the shift lever is moved from the D to N position, the moving distance of the shift lever from the original point to the gear activation point becomes longer. Move the shift lever to the N position. Loosen the 2 bolts. Slightly turn the park/neutral position switch clockwise. Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration. Torque: 13 N*m (133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) Recheck the shift lever position.
3. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER OPERATION While moving the shift lever from the N position to each position, check that the lever moves smoothly and that the shift position indicator comes on properly according to the shift lever position. Put the vehicle into the READY-on state and check the following: When the shift lever is moved to the D position, the vehicle moves forward. When the shift lever is moved to the R position, the buzzer sounds and the vehicle moves in reverse. NOTE: The vehicle should not move when the shift position indicator is off.

1. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING LOWER Install the position indicator housing lower to the shift lock control unit. HINT: Engage the claws securely.
2. INSTALL INDICATOR LIGHT WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY Install the indicator light wire sub-assembly to the shift lever assembly.
3. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER WIRE GUIDE Install a new shift lever wire guide No.1 to the shift lever assembly. Install the shift lever wire guide No.1 to the indicator light wire. Cut off the shift lever wire guide No.1 as shown in the illustration.
4. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER NO.2 Install the position indicator slide cover No.2 to the position indicator slide cover. NOTE: Be sure to install the position indicator slide cover No.2 in the correct direction.
5. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER Install the position indicator slide cover to the position indicator housing lower. NOTE: Be sure to install the position indicator slide cover with the mark facing to the front of the vehicle.
6. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR LIGHT GUIDE Install the position indicator light guide to the position indicator housing lower. HINT: Engage the claws securely.
7. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON Apply MP grease to the shift lock release button and spring. Install the shift lock release button, spring and cover.
8. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON COVER Install the shift lock release button cover to the position indicator housing.
9. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING Install the position indicator housing to the shift lever assembly. HINT: Engage the claws securely.

1. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER Install the floor shift assembly with the 4 nuts. Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Tighten them in the order, A, B, C and D. Install the pattern select switch connector, the shift lock control computer connector and the indicator light wire connector.
2. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY Connect the socket of the transmission control cable assembly to the shift lever assembly. Turn the socket of the transmission control cable assembly clockwise and install the stopper cap. NOTE: Make sure that the transmission control cable assembly (socket) is firmly secured to the shift lever assembly. Push the stopper cap to the socket as shown in the illustration. Connect the control cable end to the shift lever assembly. NOTE: Install the transmission control cable assembly with the graduated cuts to face upward to prevent torsion of the inner cable. Push the cable end to the bottom of the pin. Confirm that the connection between the socket and the shift lock control unit is fixed.

7. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY In the cabin Connect the socket of the transmission control cable assembly to the shift lever assembly. Turn the socket of the transmission control cable assembly clockwise and install the stopper cap. NOTE: Make sure that the transmission control cable assembly (socket) is firmly secured to the shift lever assembly. Push the stopper cap to the socket as shown in the illustration. Connect the control cable end to the shift lever assembly. NOTE: Install the transmission control cable assembly with the graduated cuts to face upward to prevent torsion of the inner cable. Push the cable end to the bottom of the pin. Confirm that the connection between the socket and the shift lock control unit is fixed. Move the shift lever to the N position. In the engine compartment Connect the control cable to the control cable clamp. Move the control shaft lever to the N position. Install a new clip to the control bracket. Install the control cable to the control bracket. NOTE: Make sure that the A claws on the clip are securely fit into the bracket holes. Make sure that the cable is securely installed inside of the B claws of the clip. Temporarily install the control cable to the control shaft lever with the nut. Lightly push up the control cable end. NOTE: Do not push the control cable end excessively. Release your hand from the control cable end and then fully tighten the nut. Torque: 15 N*m (150 kgf*cm, 11 in.*lbf)
