AIRFLOW METER
Note. Airflow meter may be referred to Mass Airflow (MAF) meter.
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
See CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR under IGNITION SYSTEM .
VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR
Note. It may be necessary to consult wiring diagram to verify proper vehicle speed sensor application. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
Note. To test crankshaft position sensor resistance, see CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR under IGNITION CHECKS in BASIC TESTING article.
FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE
| WARNING | ALWAYS release fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel injection-related component. DO NOT allow fuel to contact engine or electrical components. |
- Disconnect electrical connector for electric fuel pump, located in the fuel tank. Start engine and allow engine to idle until engine stalls. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Place suitable container under fuel line connection. Cover fuel line connection with shop towel. Slowly loosen fuel line connection, allowing fuel pressure to be released. Once fuel pressure is released, fuel system components may be serviced.
FUEL PUMP
Note. Fuel filter is integrated in the fule pump.
Note. For testing fuel pump operation and resistance, see SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article.
EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR
See EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES.
