This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. ENGINE AND ECT Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note A/T Oil Temperature 1 No. 1 ATF temperature sensor value/ Min.: -40°C (-40°F) Max.: 215°C (419°F) After stall test: Approximately 80°C (176°F) With engine cold: Equal to ambient temperature If the value is -40°C (-40°F) or 215°C (419°F), the No. 1 ATF temperature sensor circuit is open or shorted. HINT: When DTC P0712 is stored and the Techstream output is 150°C (302°F) or higher, there is a short circuit. When DTC P0713 is stored and the Techstream output is -40°C (-40°F), there is an open circuit. Check the temperature displayed on the Techstream in order to check if a malfunction exists. Temperature Displayed Malfunction -40°C (-40°F) Open circuit 150°C (302°F) or higher Short circuit If a circuit related to the ATF temperature sensor becomes open, P0713 is immediately stored (in 0.5 seconds). When P0713 is stored, P0711 cannot be stored. It is not necessary to inspect the circuit when P0711 is stored.

HINT: SPD (NT) is always 0 while driving: Open or short in the sensor or circuit. SPD (NT) is always more than 0 and less than 300 rpm while driving the vehicle at 50 km/h (30 mph) or more: Sensor trouble, improper installation, or intermittent connection trouble in the circuit.

The SPD (SP2) value displayed on the Techstream is much less than the actual vehicle speed: Sensor trouble, improper installation, or intermittent connection trouble in the circuit.

ENGINE AND ECT Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Activate the Lock Up Control shift solenoid valve SLU to set automatic transmission to lock-up condition ON or OFF It is possible to check the shift solenoid valve SLU operation. [Vehicle Condition] The throttle valve opening angle is less than 35%. The vehicle speed is 60 km/h (38 mph) or more. HINT: This test can be conducted when the vehicle speed is 60 km/h (38 mph) or more. Perform this test while driving in 5th or 6th gear. Lightly depress the accelerator pedal and check that the engine speed does not change abruptly. HINT: When changing the accelerator pedal opening angle while driving, if the engine speed does not change abruptly, lock-up is on. Slowly release the accelerator pedal in order to decelerate, but do not fully release the pedal (fully releasing the pedal will close the throttle valve and lock-up may be turned off automatically).

When the pattern select switch (PWR) is pushed, switch contact is made and power mode is selected. To cancel power mode, push the pattern select switch (PWR) once again.
When the pattern select switch (2ND) is pushed, switch contact is made and 2nd mode is selected. To cancel 2nd mode, push the pattern select switch (2ND) once again.

2nd mode is automatically canceled when the engine switch is turned off.
