INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note. w/ Navigation system: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

HINT

  1. If troubleshooting (wire harness inspection) is difficult to perform, remove the front passenger seat installation bolts to see the undersurface of the seat cushion.
  2. In the above case, hold the seat so that it does not fall down.

Scheme 382: PROCEDURE
  1. CHECK FOR DTC Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385233-S26916866102011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 2 OK --> See step 10
  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the occupant classification ECU and the front seat inner belt RH. OK Connectors are properly connected. NG --> CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK CONNECTOR Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and front seat inner belt RH. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and front seat inner belt RH side) are not damaged. OK Connectors are not deformed or damaged. HINT: If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection. NG --> REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
  4. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (FRONT SEAT INNER BELT RH - OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Voltage Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified condition c8-13 (BSW) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V c8-14 (BGND) - Body ground Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Using a service wire, connect terminals 1 (RBE+) and 2 (RBE-) of connector C. NOTE: Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified condition c8-13 (BSW) - c8-14 (BGND) Always Below 1 ohms Disconnect the service wire from connector C. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385233-S26916866102011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than DTC B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 6 OK --> See step 10
  6. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH (PASSENGER SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH) Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Replace the front seat inner belt RH. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-385314-S28374368152011021400000) . HINT: Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385233-S26916866102011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than DTC B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 7 OK --> END
  7. REPLACE NO. 1 SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, save the ECU data from the ECU which is installed in the vehicle. Refer to «REGISTRATION»(ref-385313-S25701287342011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Replace the No. 1 seat cushion (occupant classification ECU). Refer to «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-385219-S07493195202011021400000) . Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, load the previous ECU data stored in the Techstream into the new ECU. Refer to «REGISTRATION»(ref-385313-S25701287342011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . HINT: If DTCs are not cleared at this time, past DTCs will remain. NEXT: Go to next step
  8. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, perform zero point calibration. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-385313-S14540855742011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . HINT: If the DTCs are not cleared at this time, past DTCs will remain. NEXT: Go to next step
  9. PERFORM SENSITIVITY CHECK Perform the sensitivity check. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-385313-S14540855742011021400000) . NEXT --> END
  10. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to «DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM»(ref-385313-S06292088792011021400000)

Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385233-S26916866102011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . OK DTC B1772 is not output. HINT: DTCs other than B1772 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 3 OK --> See step 2
  2. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to «DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM»(ref-385313-S06292088792011021400000)
  3. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the occupant classification ECU and the seat belt tension sensor. OK Connectors are properly connected. NG --> CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY OK: Go to next step
  4. CHECK CONNECTOR Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and the belt tension sensor. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and seat belt tension sensor side) are not damaged. OK Connectors are not deformed or damaged. NG --> REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
  5. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SEAT POSITION SENSOR - OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Voltage Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition c8-4 (SP) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V c8-3 (GSP) - Body ground Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Using a service wire, connect terminals 4 (GSP) and 3 (SP) of connector C. NOTE: Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385233-S26916866102011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . OK DTC B1772 is not output. HINT: DTCs other than B1772 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.   7. REPLACE SEAT POSITION SENSOR Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Replace the seat position sensor. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-385228-S41109868582011021400000) . HINT: Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible. The seat position sensor is installed on the driver side. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385233-S26916866102011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385313-S18166417782011021400000) . OK DTC B1772 is not output.   8. REPLACE NO. 1 SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).   11. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU - NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE) Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Disconnect the front seat wire RH connector from the No. 2 floor wire. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Voltage Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition Lc2-2 (VBT) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V Lc2-3 (BT) - Body ground Lc2-4 (GBT) - Body ground Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds. Disconnect the front seat wire RH connector from the No. 2 floor wire. Using 2 service wires, connect terminals 8 (GBT) and 16 (BT), and connect terminals 17 (VBT) of connector B. NOTE: Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.   3. CHECK CONNECTOR Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and the occupant detection sensor.   4. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR - OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Using the Techstream, save the ECU data from the ECU which is installed in the vehicle. Refer to «REGISTRATION»(ref-385313-S25701287342011021400000) . Turn the engine switch off.
