- Check the fuel lines from cracks or leakage, and all connections for deformation.
- Check the fuel tank vapor vent system hoses and all connections for looseness, sharp bends or damage.
- Check the fuel tank for deformation, cracks, fuel leakage or tank band looseness.
- Check the filler neck for damage or fuel leakage.
- Hose and pipe connections are (Scheme 58) If a problem is found, repair or replace the parts as necessary.

- DISCONNECT MAF METER CONNECTOR
- REMOVE MAF METER Remove the 2 screws and MAF meter.
- INSPECT MAF METER Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals THA and E2. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the MAF meter. Inspect for operation. Connect the MAF meter connector. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Turn the ignition switch ON. Using a voltmeter, connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal VG and negative (-) tester probe to terminal E2G. Blow air into the MAF meter, and check that the voltage fluctuates. If operation is not as specified, replace the MAF meter. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.
- REINSTALL MAF METER Install the MAF meter with the 2 screws. Torque: 1.68 N.m (17 kgf.cm, 15 in.lbf)

- INSPECT SYSTEM OPERATION Inspect the throttle control motor for operating sound. Turn the ignition switch ON. When turning the accelerator pedal position sensor lever, check the running sound of the motor. Also, check that there is no friction sound. If operation is not as specified, check the throttle control motor (See step 3 ), wiring and ECM. Inspect the accelerator pedal position sensor. Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool to the DLC3. Check that the MIL does not come on. When turning the accelerator pedal position sensor lever to the full-open position, check that the throttle valve opening percentage (THROTTLE POS) of the CURRENT DATA shows the standard value. Standard throttle valve opening percentage: 60% or more If operation is not as specified, check that the accelerator pedal position sensor (See «DTC P2120 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "D" CIRCUIT, DTC: P2122 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "D" CIRCUIT LOW INPUT, DTC: P2123 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "D" CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT, DTC: P2125 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "E" CIRCUIT, DTC: P2127 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "E" CIRCUIT LOW INPUT, DTC: P2128 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "E" CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT, DTC: P2138 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "D"/"E" VOLTAGE CORRELATION»(ref-209750-S30332138612005121100000) ), wiring and ECM. If you have no LEXUS hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool, measure the voltage between terminal VPA and E2 of the ECM connector. Inspect the air assist system. Start the engine and check that the MIL does not come on. Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature. Turn the A/C compressor ON to OFF, and check the idle speed. Idle speed (Transmission in neutral): 700 +/- 50 rpm NOTE: Perform inspection under the condition with no electrical load. After checking the above ( b ) to ( d ), perform the running test and check that there is no incongruity.
- INSPECT THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR Disconnect the throttle connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure the motor resistance between terminal (M+) and (M-). Motor resistance: 0.3 - 100 ohm at 20°C (68°F) If the resistance is not as specified, replace the throttle body. Reconnect the throttle body connector.
- INSPECT THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (See «DTC P0120, P0122, P0123, P0220, P0222, P0223, P2135: THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT, THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT LOW INPUT, THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT, THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "B" CIRCUIT, THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "B" CIRCUIT LOW INPUT, THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "B" CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT, THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A"/"B" VOLTAGE CORRECTION»(ref-209750-S07882189462005121100000) ) If necessary, replace the throttle body. Disconnect the water bypass hose from the manifold thermostat on the throttle body, and remove the throttle body. Remove the gasket.

- INSTALL THROTTLE BODY Connect the water bypass hose to the manifold thermostat on the throttle body. Install a new gasket and the throttle body with the 2 bolts and the 2 nuts. Torque: 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) Connect the water bypass hose and the PCV hose to the throttle body. Connect the throttle control connector.

- INSPECT POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE OF VAPOR PRESSURE SENSOR Disconnect the vapor pressure sensor connector. Turn the ignition switch ON. Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage between connector terminal 1 and 3 of the wiring harness side. Voltage: 4.5 - 5.5 V Turn the ignition switch OFF. Reconnect the vapor pressure sensor connector.
- INSPECT POWER OUTPUT OF VAPOR PRESSURE SENSOR Turn the ignition switch ON. Remove the fuel tank cap. Connect a voltmeter to terminal 2 and 3, and measure the output voltage. Voltage: 3.0 - 3.6 V Reinstall the fuel tank cap. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
