LIMIT SWITCH (JAM PROTECTION) TEST
| CAUTION | If terminals of power window motor are jumpered incorrectly, damage may occur to limit switch. |
POWER MAIN RELAY CIRCUIT TEST
Remove power main relay. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2. Continuity should exist. (Scheme 3) Apply battery voltage to terminal No. 1 and ground terminal No. 2. Continuity should exist between terminals No. 3 and 5. If continuity is not as specified, replace power main relay.
POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH ILLUMINATION TEST
- Place window lock switch to UNLOCK position. Disconnect 20-pin connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect jumper wire from positive terminal of 12-volt battery to master switch harness connector terminal No. 15. see scheme 2 Connect another jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to master switch harness connector terminal No. 16.
- Ensure all switches illuminate. Measure voltage between power window master switch connector terminals No. 15 and 2. Battery voltage should be present. Set window lock switch to LOCK position. Ensure all switch illumination goes out and voltage reading drops to zero. If operation is not as specified, replace driver's power window master switch. If operation is as specified, driver's power window master switch is okay.
PULSE SWITCH (JAM PROTECTION) TEST
- Slightly lower window glass for window being tested. Disconnect 5-pin connector from power window motor. Using Toyota electrical tester, check for a pulse signal generated between power window motor connector terminals No. 3 and 5. see scheme 5 Connect jumper wire from positive terminal of 12-volt battery to power window motor connector terminal No. 1.
- Connect another jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to power window motor connector terminal No. 4. Ensure pulse signal exists while window raises to fully closed position. Reverse polarity and ensure pulse signal exists while window lowers to fully opened position. If pulse signal exists in both directions, pulse switch is okay at this time. If pulse signal does not exist in one or both directions, replace power window motor.
REAR QUARTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST
Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between rear quarter power window switch specified terminals in specified position. See REAR QUARTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. (Scheme 2) If continuity is not present at specified terminals, replace rear quarter power window switch.

POWER MAIN RELAY CONTINUITY TEST
Remove power main relay located behind left kick panel. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between power main relay specified terminals. See POWER MAIN RELAY CONTINUITY TEST table. (Scheme 3) If continuity does not exist at specified terminals, replace power main relay.
