- CLEAR DTC Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body/(desired system)/Trouble codes. Erase the DTCs.
DATA LIST/ACTIVE TEST
- READ DATA LIST HINT: Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are for reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. - PERFORM ACTIVE TEST HINT: Using the Techstream to perform the Active Test allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests. Turn the engine switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical/(desired system)/Active Test. According to the display on the Techstream, perform the "Active Test". Disconnect the L12 main body ECU connector. Disconnect the L33 steering lock ECU connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. - CHECK WHETHER ENGINE STARTS AFTER STEERING LOCK INITIALIZATION Open and close the driver door when the engine switch is off. Check that the engine starts. OK: Engine starts. HINT: After the battery runs out, the engine may not start if the steering lock ECU has not been initialized (lock/unlock may not be recorded) through the procedure described above. OK: SYSTEM OK NG: Go to next step.
- CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (MAIN BODY ECU AND CERTIFICATION ECU) Clear the DTCs (see «DTC CHECK/CLEAR»(ref-349725-S42845355162009120800000) ). HINT: After all DTCs are cleared, check if the trouble occurs again 5 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG). Check for DTCs again. OK: No DTC is output. NG: GO TO «DTC CHART»(ref-349725-S14053349582009120800000) OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK ENGINE SWITCH (SWITCH CONDITION) Ensure the key is inside the cabin. With the brake pedal released, check that the power source mode changes as shown below each time the engine switch is pushed. OK: off --> on (ACC) --> on (IG) --> off NG: GO TO «POWER SOURCE MODE DOES NOT CHANGE»(ref-349725-S32662929662009120800000) OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK BASIC FUNCTION Ensure that there is fuel in the fuel tank and the key is inside the cabin. Depress the brake pedal with the shift lever in P or N, and keep depressing the pedal. Check that the engine cranks when the engine switch is pressed. OK: Engine cranks. OK: Go to step 9 NG: Go to next step.

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation. NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- REMOVE STARTER CUT RELAY (ST CUT) Remove the starter cut relay from the engine room No. 2 relay block.
- INSPECT STARTER CUT RELAY Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance RESISTANCE REFERENCE Terminal Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 When battery voltage is not applied to terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.

- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION Perform initialization (see «INITIALIZATION»(ref-349706-S07943075812009120800000) ). NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
