DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

The remote keyless entry system allows the doors to be locked and unlocked, and luggage compartment to be opened by low-power electrical waves emitted from a hand-held transmitter. Pushing the transmitter UNLOCK button once will deactivate the theft deterrent system and unlock driver's door. Pushing the UNLOCK button again within 3 seconds will unlock the other doors and sound 2 chirps. Interior lights will also illuminate if interior light switch is in DOOR position. Pushing the transmitter luggage compartment button will open the luggage compartment and sound one chirp. However, these functions do not operate if ignition switch is in ON position. If doors are not opened within 30 seconds, all the doors will automatically relock.

WIRELESS DOOR LOCK TRANSMITTER OPERATION

Replace transmitter battery. Stand about 3 feet from vehicle and face transmitter at driver's door handle. If wireless door lock transmitter operates and LED illuminates more than once, system is okay. If wireless door lock transmitter does not operate, replace transmitter.

WIRELESS DOOR LOCK BUZZER OPERATION

Disconnect wireless door lock buzzer 2-pin connector. (Scheme 8) Measure resistance between connector terminals. If about one k/ohm is present, buzzer is okay. If about one k/ohm is not present, replace buzzer.

WIRELESS BUZZER VOLUME & ON/OFF SWITCH OPERATION

Disconnect wireless buzzer volume and on/off switch 2-pin connector. (Scheme 8) Connect ohmmeter between wireless buzzer volume and on/off switch terminals. Slowly turn knob clockwise. Resistance should change from 10 k/ohms to zero ohms. If resistance is to specification, switch is okay. If resistance is not to specification, replace switch.
