POWER MIRROR WITH MEMORY
Note. Before proceeding with trouble shooting, check multiple communication diagnosis system to ensure system is functioning properly. See MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEM article.
Both Mirrors Inoperative
Check RADIO No. 2 fuse and SEC-HORN fuse. Check power mirror switch, tilt and telescopic ECU, multiplex communication circuit, and wiring harness.
One Mirror Inoperative
Check driver door or passenger door ECU. See MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEM article. Check power mirror motor, and wiring harness.
Mirror Does Not Return To Memorized Position
Ensure memorized position has been set. Check driving position switch (memory and return switches), driver door ECU, multiplex communication circuit, and wiring harness.
Mirror Returns To Non-Memorized Position
Ensure memorized position has been set. Check wiring harness.
Both Mirrors Do Not Operate
Check fuse(s), power mirror switch, wiring harness, and power mirror motors.
One Mirror Does Not Operate
Check power mirror switch, power mirror motor, and wiring harness.
MIRROR DEFOGGER
Note. See DEFOGGER - REAR WINDOW & SIDE MIRROR article.
LIQUID CRYSTAL REAR VIEW MIRROR
Check ECU-IG fuse, liquid crystal mirror and wiring harness.
With Memory
Disconnect outer mirror connector. Using jumper wires, connect 1.5 volt battery positive end to terminal No. 5 and battery negative end to terminal No. 4 at mirror connector. see scheme 2 Mirror face should change from bright to dark. Replace mirror assembly as necessary.
Without Memory
Disconnect outer mirror connector. Using jumper wires, connect 1.5 volt battery positive end to terminal No. 2 and battery negative end to terminal No. 1 at mirror connector. see scheme 2 Mirror face should change from bright to dark. Replace mirror assembly as necessary.
Disconnect driver door ECU connector. ECU is located inside driver's door. Check for continuity between specified terminals at driver ECU connector. (Scheme 9) See DRIVING POSITION MEMORY & RETURN SWITCH CIRCUIT CONTINUITY TEST table. If continuity is not as specified, check switch. See DRIVING POSITION MEMORY & RETURN SWITCH TEST.
