  4. CHECK COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally. Refer to «DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665810-S14264089842014102400000) HINT: The ECU of this system is connected to the CAN communication system. Therefore before starting troubleshooting, make sure to check the CAN communication system is functioning normally. Scheme 8: HYDRAULIC TEST [04/2013 - ]
  1. PERFORM LINE PRESSURE TEST Measure the line pressure. HINT: Perform the test at the normal operating temperature for ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid): 50 to 80°C (122 to 176°F). The line pressure test should always be carried out with at least 2 people. One technician should observe the conditions of the wheels or wheel chocks outside the vehicle while the other is performing the test. Be careful to prevent the SST hose from contacting the exhaust pipe. This check must be performed after ensuring that the engine is running properly. Perform this test while the A/C is OFF. When performing the stall test, do not continue more than 5 seconds. Warm up the ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid). Lift the vehicle up. Remove the test plug on the transfer case and connect SST. SST: 09992-00095 (09992-00151, 09992-00271) *a Test Plug (Center Differential) *b Test Plug (Line Pressure) Lower the vehicle. Fully apply the parking brake and chock the 4 wheels. Start the engine and check idling speed. Keep your left foot pressing the brake pedal firmly and move the shift lever to D. Measure the line pressure when the engine is idling. Fully depress the accelerator pedal. Read the highest line pressure as quickly as possible when the engine speed reaches stall speed. In the same manner, perform the test with the shift lever in R.   2. PERFORM CENTER DIFFERENTIAL OPERATING HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TEST Measure the center differential operating hydraulic pressure. HINT: Perform the test at the normal operating temperature for ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid): 50 to 80°C (122 to 176°F). The line pressure test should always be carried out with at least 2 people. One technician should observe the conditions of the wheels or wheel chocks outside the vehicle while the other is performing the test. Be careful to prevent the SST hose from contacting the exhaust pipe. This check must be performed after ensuring that the engine is running properly. Perform this test while the A/C is OFF. INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - ]

  1. DESCRIPTION When the 4WD ECU assembly is replaced with a normal one from another vehicle, it is necessary to perform initialization. NOTE: If initialization is not performed, it may affect AWD initial performance (acceleration, etc). When the yaw rate sensor (G sensor) is replaced, it is necessary to perform initialization. HINT: When the 4WD ECU assembly is replaced with a new one, it is not necessary to perform initialization.
  2. PERFORM INITIALIZATION Turn the engine switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Four Wheel Drive / Utility / Reset Memory. Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Utility Tester Display Reset Memory Operate the Techstream to clear the data.

FREEZE FRAME DATA [04/2013 - ]

  1. FREEZE FRAME DATA When a DTC is stored, the 4WD ECU assembly stores the current vehicle state as Freeze Frame Data. HINT: Freeze Frame Data at the time a DTC is stored: When the 4WD ECU assembly stores data at the time a DTC is stored, no updates will be performed until the data is cleared. "Number of IG ON" is not stored as Freeze Frame Data.
  2. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Four Wheel Drive / Trouble Codes. Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Trouble Codes According to the display on the Techstream, select the trouble code data display with Freeze Frame Data.
