- INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Turn the Techstream on. Turn the A/C switch on. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for intake camshaft). Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1). Powertrain > Engine > Active Test Tester Display Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the Techstream. Standard Condition Control Range Specified Condition 0% Normal engine speed 100% Engine idles roughly or stalls If the operation is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 2). Powertrain > Engine > Active Test Tester Display Control the VVT Linear (Bank 2) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the Techstream. - REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY Refer to «REMOVAL [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665769-S18378390412014102400000)
- REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly. NOTE: Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly). Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. *1 O-ring
- REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 1) Remove the bolt and V-bank cover bracket sub-assembly from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly. NOTE: Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly). Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. *1 O-ring
- REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps from the ignition coil cover bracket. Remove the 2 bolts and ignition coil cover bracket from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH. NOTE: Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH). Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. *1 O-ring
- REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 2) Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH. NOTE: Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH). Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. *1 O-ring

- INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 6.9 to 7.9 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Check the operation. Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check the movement of the spool valve. OK Condition Specified Condition Battery voltage is applied Valve moves in left arrow direction shown in illustration Battery voltage is cut off Valve moves in right arrow direction shown in illustration NOTE: Accumulation of foreign matter can cause minor pressure leaks. Minor pressure leaks in the intake side oil control valve will cause the intake camshaft to advance. Minor pressure leaks in the exhaust side oil control valve will cause the exhaust camshaft to retard. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH). Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or moved out of place when installing the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector.
- INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Install the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH). Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or moved out of place when installing the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector. Install the ignition coil cover bracket to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH with the 2 bolts. Bolt A Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Bolt B Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) Connect the 2 wire harness clamps to the ignition coil cover bracket.
- INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 1) Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Install the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly). Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or moved out of place when installing the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector. Install the V-bank cover bracket sub-assembly to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Install the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly). - INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY Check the idle speed. Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated. After the engine is warmed up, check that the idle speed is within the specified range with the A/C switch off. Standard 650 to 750 rpm NOTE: Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off. Make sure that the shift lever is in P. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities. Check the throttle position sensor. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Throttle Sensor Position. Powertrain > Engine > Data List Tester Display Throttle Sensor Position Depress the accelerator pedal. When the throttle valve is fully open, check that the Throttle Sensor Position value is within specification. Standard Throttle Valve Opening Percentage Tester Display Specified Condition Throttle Sensor Position 60% or higher NOTE: When checking the throttle valve opening percentage, the shift lever should be in N. Fully depress the accelerator pedal. If the percentage is less than 60%, replace the throttle body with motor assembly.

- DISCONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE Disconnect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly connector. Disconnect the wire harness clamp from the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose. Disconnect the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose clamp from the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose. Release the 4 clamps. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose from the throttle body with motor assembly.
- REMOVE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY Disconnect the throttle body with motor assembly connector. Remove the 4 bolts and throttle body with motor assembly from the intake air surge tank assembly. Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose and No. 2 water by-pass hose from the throttle body with motor assembly. *1 No. 1 Water By-pass Hose *2 No. 2 Water By-pass Hose
- REMOVE THROTTLE BODY GASKET Remove the throttle body gasket from the intake air surge tank assembly.
- INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. - INSTALL THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY Connect the No. 1 water by-pass hose and No. 2 water by-pass hose to the throttle body with motor assembly and slide the 2 clips to secure them. Install the throttle body with motor assembly to the intake air surge tank assembly with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the throttle body with motor assembly connector.
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE Connect the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose to the throttle body with motor assembly. Install the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose with the 4 clamps. *a Protrusion Tighten the hose clamp. Torque: 4.0 N*m (41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf) NOTE: Fit the protrusion on the air cleaner hose into the hole of the hose clamp on the throttle body with motor assembly side. Connect the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose clamp to the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose. Connect the wire harness clamp to the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose. Connect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly connector.
- CONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE Connect the No. 2 ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly and slide the clip to secure it. *a Top *b Front *c Paint Mark HINT: Make sure the direction of the clip is as shown in the illustration.
- INSTALL INTAKE AIR SOUND CREATOR HINT: Only perform this procedure when replacement of the intake air sound creator is necessary. Connect the intake air sound creator to the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose. Install the bolt and tighten the hose clamp. Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) *1 Air Cleaner Hose HINT: Make sure the direction of the hose clamp is as shown in the illustration.

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665529-S01115916402014102400000)
- REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER NOTE: Remove all water on and around the engine room ECU cover. Perform the inspection indoors to avoid rain. Be sure to prevent water intrusion to the ECM (connectors and screw parts). Remove the 3 bolts and engine room ECU cover.
- DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS Disconnect the 2 engine wire harness connectors from the connector holder. Disengage the claw and disconnect the connector from the connector holder. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw. Disconnect the connector holder from the engine room ECU box. Disconnect the 6 ECM connectors.
- REMOVE ECM Remove the 2 nuts and ECM from the engine room ECU box. NOTE: If the ECM has been struck or dropped, replace it.
- REMOVE NO. 1 ECM BRACKET Remove the 2 screws and No. 1 ECM bracket from the ECM.
- REMOVE NO. 2 ECM BRACKET Remove the 2 screws and No. 2 ECM bracket from the ECM.
- INSTALL NO. 2 ECM BRACKET Install the No. 2 ECM bracket to the ECM with the 2 screws. Torque: 3.0 N*m (31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf)
- INSTALL NO. 1 ECM BRACKET Install the No. 1 ECM bracket to the ECM with the 2 screws. Torque: 3.0 N*m (31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf)
- INSTALL ECM Install the ECM to the engine room ECU box with the 2 nuts. Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) NOTE: Install the ECM to the engine room ECU box with the name plate facing the outside of the vehicle. When connecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not become stuck between the connectors and other part. If the ECM has been struck or dropped, replace it.
- CONNECT WIRE HARNESS Connect the 6 ECM connectors. NOTE: Be sure to securely connect the ECM connector. Engage the claw to connect the connector holder to the engine room ECU box. Connect the connector to the connector holder. Connect the 2 engine wire harness connectors to the connector holder.
- INSTALL ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER Install the engine room ECU cover with the 3 bolts. Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) NOTE: Make sure that the wire harness does not get caught between the parts.
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665529-S01115916402014102400000)
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION Refer to «PRECAUTION [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665554-S16770774442014102400000)

- REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY NOTE: Avoid physical shock to the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. Do not disassemble the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. This accelerator pedal sensor assembly does not require lubrication. Do not apply oil or other lubrication to the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. If applied, the accelerator pedal sensor assembly must be replaced. Disconnect the accelerator pedal sensor assembly connector. Remove the 2 nuts and accelerator pedal sensor assembly.
- REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL PAD Disengage the 2 claws and remove the accelerator pedal pad.
- REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY Remove the 2 bolts and accelerator pedal assembly.
- INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY Install the accelerator pedal assembly with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
- INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL PAD Engage the 2 claws to install the accelerator pedal pad.
- INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY NOTE: Avoid physical shock to the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. Do not disassemble the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. This accelerator pedal sensor assembly does not require lubrication. Do not apply oil or other lubrication to the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. If applied, the accelerator pedal sensor assembly must be replaced. Install the accelerator pedal sensor assembly with the 2 nuts. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) Connect the accelerator pedal sensor assembly connector.

Note. Perform the mass air flow meter sub-assembly inspection according to the following procedure. Only replace the mass air flow meter sub-assembly when the mass air flow meter sub-assembly value in the Data List (with the engine stopped) is not within the normal operating range or there is foreign matter on the mass air flow meter sub-assembly platinum hot wire (heater).
- INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY HINT: Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter sub-assembly. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665554-S39644640142014102400000) Read the value using the Techstream (MAF). NOTE: Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface. Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter sub-assembly while it is installed to the air cleaner cap sub-assembly (installed to the vehicle). During the test, do not use an exhaust air duct on the exhaust pipe. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) (do not start the engine). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAF. Powertrain > Engine > Data List Tester Display MAF Wait for 30 seconds, and read the value on the Techstream. Standard Condition Tester Display Condition Specified Condition MAF Engine not running 30 seconds after engine switch turned on (IG) 0.54 gm/sec or less If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter sub-assembly. - CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR for Bank 2: Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector. Install the floor carpet. for Bank 1: Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector. Install the floor carpet.

- INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK Refer to «PROCEDURE - Step 9»(ref-665769-S09616163602014102400000)
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing a heated oxygen sensor. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665554-S39644640142014102400000)
- INSPECT EFI INJECTION RELAY (INJ) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher Battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the EFI injection relay (INJ).
- INSPECT EFI 2 RELAY (EFI MAIN NO. 2) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
