SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- REAR SUNSHADE SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The rear sunshade is raised or lowered by operating the rear sunshade switch located in the instrument panel No. 1 safety pad. When the shift lever is on R, the PNP switch (A/T) or back-up light switch (M/T) sends a reverse-linked signal to the rear sunshade relay, and the rear sunshade lowers. When the shift lever is moved to D or S (A/T), shift lever is move to any position other than R (M/T) or the vehicle speed is 15 km/h (9.3 mph) or more, the rear sunshade is redeployed. Using the intelligent tester, the reverse-linked sunshade lowering function's response time can be customized to one of the following (seconds): 0, 0.7, 0.9, 1.2.
When the rear sunshade switch is pressed, a signal is sent directly to the rear sunshade relay.

- INSPECT FUSE (LH-IG) Remove the LH-IG fuse from the cowl side junction block LH. Measure the resistance of the fuses. Standard resistance: Below 1 ohms NG: REPLACE FUSE OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH - RELAY, BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the Q24 relay connector. Disconnect the Q2 cowl side junction block LH connector. Disconnect the J12 rear sunshade switch connector. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors. Standard resistance COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH - RELAY, BATTERY AND BODY GROUND (RESISTANCE) Tester Connection Specified Condition REV (Q24-2) - OP02 (Q2-20) Below 1 ohms SW (Q24-3) - J12-3 Below 1 ohms E (Q24-5) - Body ground Below 1 ohms REV (Q24-2) - E (Q24-5) 10 k ohms or higher SW (Q24-3) - E (Q24-5) 10 k ohms or higher Turn the engine switch on (IG). Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector. Standard voltage COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH - RELAY, BATTERY AND BODY GROUND (VOLTAGE) Tester Connection Specified Condition IG (Q24-1) - Body ground 10 to 14 V NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step.
- INSPECT REAR SUNSHADE SWITCH Disconnect the connector from the rear sunshade switch. Measure the resistance between the terminals according to the value(s) in «REAR SUNSHADE SWITCH»(ref-235599-S18187902482006062400000). Standard resistance REAR SUNSHADE SWITCH Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition J12-3 (ECU) - J12-4 (E) Rear sunshade switch is pressed Below 1 ohms J12-3 (ECU) - J12-4 (E) Rear sunshade switch is not pressed 10 k ohms or higher NG: REPLACE REAR SUNSHADE SWITCH OK: REPLACE REAR SUNSHADE RELAY
When the engine switch is on (IG) and the rear sunshade is raised, moving the shift lever to R causes the Park/Neutral Position switch (A/T) or back-up light switch (M/T) to send a reverse-linked signal to the main body ECU LH. Then the main body ECU LH sends the signal through the multiplex communication line to the rear sunshade relay. The relay then lowers the rear sunshade.

- CHECK OPERATION Check that the back-up light comes on when the shift lever is moved to the R position. OK: Back-up light comes on when shift lever is moved to R position. NG: GO TO «LIGHTING SYSTEM»(ref-235577-S10895959272006062400000) OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK REAR SUNSHADE RELAY Disconnect the Q24 rear sunshade relay connector. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connectors. Standard voltage REAR SUNSHADE RELAY Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition REV (Q24-2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever on except R Below 1 V REV (Q24-2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever on R 10 to 14 V NG: Go to step 3 OK: REPLACE REAR SUNSHADE RELAY
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MAIN BODY ECU LH - BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH OR PNP SWITCH) Disconnect the Q2 cowl side junction block LH connector. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connectors. Standard voltage MAIN BODY ECU LH - BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH OR PNP SWITCH Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition BKUP (Q2-22) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever on except R Below 1 V BKUP (Q2-22) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever on R 10 to 14 V NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (REAR SUNSHADE RELAY - MAIN BODY ECU LH) Disconnect the Q24 relay connector. Disconnect the Q2 main body ECU LH connector. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors. Standard resistance REAR SUNSHADE RELAY - MAIN BODY ECU LH Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition REV (Q24-2) - OP02 (Q2-20) Always Below 1 ohms NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU LH
