CATCHING PREVENTION FUNCTION

If any foreign matter is caught in the window while it is rising, the pulse sensor installed in the power window motor detects changes in the number of motor rotations, forcibly lowers the door window 50 mm or if the door window opening amount is 200 mm or less, the window is lowered so that the opening amount is 200 mm.

SYSTEM TESTS

Note. Information is not available from manufacturer.

POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the power window master switch and inspect the connector on the wiring harness side. See «CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION»(ref-154768-S11332494392003052300000). See «INSPECTING POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH CIRCUIT»(ref-154768-S17306645752003052300000) table. If the circuit is not as specified, replace the switch. see scheme 14 INSPECTING POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH CIRCUIT Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 9 - Ground Constant Continuity 1, 5 - Ground Constant B+ Voltage 2, 4 - Ground Ignition Switch LOCK No Voltage 2, 4 - Ground Ignition Switch ACC Or ON B+ Voltage
  2. Inspect the power window master switch circuit. See POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH CIRCUIT under CIRCUIT TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL SYSTEM article.

POWER WINDOW MOTOR CIRCUIT

Inspect the power window motor circuit. See POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH CIRCUIT under CIRCUIT TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL SYSTEM article. article.

Inspect the power window switch circuit. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH CIRCUIT under CIRCUIT TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL SYSTEM article.

JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION

WARNINGNever allow any body part be caught in window when checking jam protection function.

Note. If performing resetting of the limit switch, check after repeating up and down of the glass with automatic operation.

  1. Confirm that the window will be fully closed with AUTO UP operation.
  2. Check the operation of the jam protection function. Hold the handle of a hammer in the top of window jam. Move up the window with AUTO up operation and check that the window will go down when it touches the handle of the hammer. Confirm that the window will then stop going down after about 200 mm.

LIMIT SWITCH & PULSE SWITCH

Check that the master switch assembly automatic light flashes (for 45 seconds after the starter switch has been turned from ON to OFF with the driver's door opens) under the condition of KEY off operation.

  1. Limit Switch Malfunction - Even though the glass goes down from the fully closed position, the power window regulator switch assembly does not detect a change in limit switch signal within 2 seconds after the operation has started. (Scheme 32)
  2. Pulse Sensor Malfunction - Even though the glass goes down from the fully closed position, the power window regulator switch assembly does not detect a change in pulse switch signal within 2 seconds after the operation has started.

POWER WINDOW MOTOR

  1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check that the motor turns clockwise. See «CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION»(ref-154768-S11332494392003052300000) .
  2. Reverse the polarity and check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
  3. If operation is not as specified, replace the motor. See «POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR (FRONT)»(ref-154768-S18404700652003052700000) or «POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR (REAR)»(ref-154768-S19756134432003052700000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

POWER WINDOW SWITCH

Inspect the power window switch continuity. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 6. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. See INSPECTING POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY table. If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch. see scheme 15
