DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
| WARNING | Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS . |
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) helps to prevent the tires from locking up, thereby ensuring vehicle performance and handling ability.
The Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) system distributes optimal breaking force to the front and rear tires in accordance with driving conditions. Braking force is also distributed to the left and right wheels when braking during cornering to ensure vehicle performance and superior braking power.
The Traction Control system (TRAC) helps prevent the drive wheels from slipping if the driver presses the accelerator pedal excessively when starting off or accelerating on a slippery surface.
The ABS is equipped with a self-diagnostic capability which allows technician to retrieve data stored in control module to aid in diagnosis.
