HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

HINT

  1. Use the following procedure to troubleshoot the air conditioning system.
  2. *: Use the Techstream.
  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP NEXT: Go to next step
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE Inspect the battery voltage with the power switch off. Standard Voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step. NEXT: Go to next step
  3. CHECK COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* Use the Techstream to check if the LIN communication system is functioning normally. Result Result Proceed to LIN DTC is not output A LIN DTC is output B B --> GO TO APPROPRIATE LIN COMMUNICATION SERVICE INFORMATION A: Go to next step

  5. CHECK FOR DTC* Check for DTCs and note any code that is output. Clear the DTCs. Recheck for DTCs. Based on the DTCs output above, try to force the A/C system to output DTCs by simulating the conditions indicated by the DTC. Result Result Proceed to DTC is output A DTC is not output B B --> Go to step 7 . A: Go to next step

  1. DESCRIPTION Air conditioning system data and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be read through the Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3) of the vehicle. When the system seems to be malfunctioning, use the Techstream to check for malfunctions and perform troubleshooting.
  2. CHECK DLC3 Check the DLC3. Refer to «GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-398089-S21707799022011051600000) .
  3. LIST OF OPERATION METHODS By operating each of the air conditioning control switches as shown in the diagram below, it is possible to enter diagnostic check mode.
  4. INDICATOR CHECK Turn the power switch off. Turn the power switch on (ACC) and wait at least 5 seconds. Turn the power switch on (IG) while pressing the integration control and panel assembly "AUTO" switch and "Recirculation/Fresh" switch simultaneously. Hold both switches until the indicator check screen appears. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Integration Control and Panel Assembly (w/o Navigation System) *2 Integration Control and Panel Assembly (w/ Navigation System) The indicator check is automatically performed when panel diagnosis is activated. Check that the indicators light up and go off 4 times at 1-second intervals continuously. HINT: The sensor check automatically starts when the indicator check is completed.   5. SENSOR CHECK (DTC CHECK) Start the engine and warm it up. Perform the indicator check. HINT: After the indicator check is completed, the system enters DTC check mode automatically. Read the DTC displayed on the multi-display assembly*1 or the integration control and panel assembly*2. NOTE: In sensor check mode, which is automatically entered after indicator check mode, troubleshooting may be partially performed. Be sure to perform the sensor check again. HINT: Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart for details of the codes. Refer to «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART»(ref-398247-S02993491322011051600000) . When there are no problems, DTC 00 is output. The items are displayed step by step each time the "FRONT DEF" switch is pressed. HINT: Press the "OFF" switch to finish panel diagnosis. DTC CHECK / CLEAR

  1. DTC CHECK USING TECHSTREAM Turn the power switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / DTC. Check for DTCs.
  2. DTC CLEAR USING TECHSTREAM Turn the power switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / DTC. Clear the DTCs.

DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. DATA LIST HINT: Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not. Turn the power switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Data List. Check the value(s) by referring to the table below.   2. ACTIVE TEST HINT: Using the Techstream to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed.
