Transfer Case (Service Information): Removal & Installation Lexus GX J150

INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL TRANSFER ASSEMBLY Install the transfer assembly with the 8 bolts. Torque: 24 N*m (245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Take care not to damage the adaptor rear oil seal with the transfer input gear spline.
  2. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH TRANSFER Install the automatic transmission with transfer. Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-524256-S04247120702013012800000) .
  3. ADD TRANSFER OIL See step 2
  4. CHECK FOR TRANSFER OIL LEAK

  1. INSPECT CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 6 (L) - 9 (CPU) ON Below 1 ohms OFF 100 kohms or higher TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Component without harness connected (Center Differential Lock Switch) If the result is not as specified, replace the center differential lock switch.
  1. INSTALL CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH Attach the 2 claws to install the center differential lock switch.

Standard Resistance Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 2 (LO) - 9 (E) L4 Below 1 ohms H4 100 kohms or higher TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Component without harness connected (Combination Switch) If the result is not as specified, replace the combination switch.
  1. INSTALL COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (TRANSFER POSITION SWITCH) Install the combination switch (transfer position switch) with the 4 screws.

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system. NOTE: w/ Navigation System for HDD: After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal Condition Waiting Time Vehicle enrolled in safety connect system 6 minutes Vehicle not enrolled in safety connect system 1 minute When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.   11. REMOVE 4 WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU NO. 2 Disconnect the 2 connectors. Remove the bolt and four wheel drive control ECU.
  1. INSTALL 4 WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU NO. 2 Install the four wheel drive control ECU with the bolt. Torque: 13 N*m (127 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) Connect the 2 connectors.
