INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note. When using the Techstream with the engine switch off, perform either of the following: 1) Turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the Techstream and vehicle begins, or 2) connect the Techstream to the vehicle, select the vehicle type under manual mode, and then enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access / Trouble Codes. After performing repairs, confirm that no DTCs are output again. When replacing the steering lock actuator assembly (steering lock ECU), registration must be performed. Refer to REGISTRATION .

HINT

When all the ECUs that are connected to the LIN communication cannot communicate with the certification ECU, DTC B2785 is stored.

  1. INSPECT STEERING LOCK ECU Disconnect the G23 steering lock ECU connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Turn the engine switch off, make sure that the steering is unlocked and move the shift lever to P. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below. In order to take measurements when the lock motor is operating, perform either of the following operations: To unlock the steering, carry the key and turn the engine switch on (ACC) or on (IG) while the shift lever is in P. To lock the steering, turn the engine switch off with the shift lever in P, and then open a door. NG --> See step 4 OK: Go to next step
  2. CLEAR DTC AND DATA LIST MALFUNCTION RECORD Clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-524329-S02639288412013012800000) . Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, wait for 30 seconds or more, and then reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal to clear the record of malfunctions stored in Power Supply Open in the Data List. NOTE: w/ Navigation System: After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.   3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (POWER SUPPLY OPEN) Perform the DTC output confirmation operation. Check if DTC B2782 is output. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-524329-S02639288412013012800000) . Use the Data List to check if the steering lock control is functioning properly.   4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - STEERING LOCK ECU) Disconnect the G39 power management control ECU connector. Disconnect the G23 steering lock ECU connector. Check for deformation and corrosion of the connector case and terminals. OK There is no deformation or corrosion of the connector case or terminals. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. This prevents the engine from starting while the steering is locked.
