- READ VALUE OF DATA LIST (STP SIGNAL) HINT: According to the DATA LIST displayed by the hand-held tester, you can read the value of the switch, sensor, actuator and so on without parts removal. Reading the DATA LIST as the first step of troubleshooting is one method to shorten labor time. Warm up the engine. Turn the ignition switch off. Connect the hand-held tester together with the CAN VIM (controller area network vehicle interface module) to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Turn on the tester. Select the item "DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST". According to the display on tester, read the "DATA LIST". Standard: NOTE: In (Scheme 218), the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not. NG: Go to step 2 OK: Go to step 3.
- INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY Remove the stop lamp switch assy. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in «STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY»(ref-228754-S17957353742006041100000). Standard: STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY Switch position Tester Connection Specified Condition Switch pin free 1 - 2 Below 1.0 ohms Switch pin pushed in 10 k ohms or higher Switch pin free 3 - 4 10 k ohms or higher Switch pin pushed in Below 1.0 ohms NG: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY - ECM) Install the stop lamp switch assy. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in «TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE»(ref-228754-S20479091752006041100000) when the brake pedal is depressed and released. Standard: STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY - ECM Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition Brake pedal is depressed E9 - 15 (STP) - Body ground 10 to 14 V Brake pedal is released Below 1 V NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SEE «ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE»(ref-228746-S10052866652006041000000) ) OK: REPLACE ECM (SEE «ECM (2UZ-FE)»(ref-228777-S42069210522006041100000) )
