PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK TIRE CONDITION Check the size and condition of all 4 tires. Refer to «INSPECTION»(ref-382574-S32785550852011012800000) . HINT: This DTC is output when tire deformation or a difference in tire size is detected. OK The diameter and air pressure of all 4 tires are the same. NG --> REPLACE TIRES SO THAT ALL 4 TIRES ARE THE SAME IN SIZE OK: Go to next step
  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Select the "Data List" on the Techstream. Refer to «DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST»(ref-382787-S42940639252011012800000) . Check that the speed values detected at all four wheels displayed on the Techstream are the same when driving the vehicle. DATA LIST: (Absorber Control ECU) Item Measurement Item / Range (Display) Normal Condition FR Wheel Speed Wheel speed sensor (FR) reading / min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), max.: 202 mph (326.4 km/h) Actual wheel speed FL Wheel Speed Wheel speed sensor (FL) reading / min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), max.: 202 mph (326.4 km/h) Actual wheel speed RR Wheel Speed Wheel speed sensor (RR) reading / min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), max.: 202 mph (326.4 km/h) Actual wheel speed RL Wheel Speed Wheel speed sensor (RL) reading / min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), max.: 202 mph (326.4 km/h) Actual wheel speed OK The vehicle speed detected at all four wheels must be indicated on the Techstream. NG --> CHECK SPEED SIGNAL CIRCUIT OK: Go to next step
  3. RECONFIRM DTC Clear the DTC. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-382787-S19456847102011012800000) . Turn the engine switch off. Start the engine. Drive the vehicle at the speed of 12 mph (20 km/h) or more and check that same DTC is output. Result Result Proceed to DTC is output A DTC is not output B B --> END A --> REPLACE 4WD CONTROL ECU
  1. CHECK DTC Check DTC. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-382787-S19456847102011012800000) . Record the output DTC (4WD control system). HINT: When DTCs indicating a CAN communication system malfunction are output, repair the CAN communication system before repairing each corresponding sensor. NEXT --> GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
  1. CHECK DTC Check the output DTC. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-382787-S19456847102011012800000) . Result Result Proceed to No DTC is output A CAN and Multiplex communications DTC is output B 4WD control system DTC is output C HINT: When DTCs indicating a CAN communication system malfunction are output, repair the CAN communication system before repairing each corresponding sensor. C --> REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE B --> REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE A: Go to next step
  2. INSPECT BATTERY Check the battery voltage. Voltage 10 to 14 V NG --> INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM OK: Go to next step
  3. INSPECT 4WD CONTROL ECU (IG1 TERMINAL VOLTAGE) Disconnect the 4WD control ECU connector. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Voltage Tester connection Condition Specified condition U52-9 (IG1) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (IG1 CIRCUIT) OK: Go to next step
  4. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Troubleshoot the combination meter assembly system. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-382731-S07715468002011012800000) . Result The combination meter assembly system is normal. NG --> REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY OK --> REPLACE 4WD CONTROL ECU
  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (4WD INDICATOR LIGHT) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Select the "Active Test" on the Techstream and operate the 4WD indicator light using the Techstream. Refer to «DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST»(ref-382787-S42940639252011012800000) . ACTIVE TEST: Item Vehicle Condition / Test Details Diagnostic Note 4WD Warning Lamp 4WD Indicator Light ON / OFF ON: 4WD indicator light on OFF: 4WD indicator light off Observe multi-information display Check that 4WD indicator light displayed in the multi-information display when using the Techstream. OK The 4WD indicator light displayed on the multi-information display is turned on or off by the Techstream operation. NG --> See step 3 OK --> REPLACE 4WD CONTROL ECU
  3. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-382787-S19456847102011012800000) .
