SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The driver seat and front passenger seat are equipped with slide, reclining, lifter, front vertical and lumbar support adjustment functions. The memory system for the front seats is optional. With the memory function, the position control ECU and switch performs the following: 1) controls the slide, reclining, lifter and front vertical motors; 2) memorizes the seat position; and 3) operates the seat restoring operation. The memory call function uses the key ID code of the key to memorize and reproduce the appropriate driving position for each individual who possesses a master key or sub key.
  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT The following functions are available. Components Function Power seat motor (slide motor) Receives signal from position control ECU and motor operates to slide seat forward and rearward Power seat motor (reclining motor) Receives signal from position control ECU and motor operates to tilt and recline seat Power seat motor (front vertical motor) Receives signal from position control ECU and motor operates to raise and lower seat cushion front vertically Power seat motor (lifter motor) Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and seat cushion raises and lowers vertically Lumbar support adjuster motor Receives signal from lumbar front power seat switch and motor operates so that lumbar support can be adjusted Front power seat switch (reclining, lifter, slide, front vertical) Based on switches operated, seat adjuster signals are input into position control ECU to adjust seat accordingly Lumbar front power seat switch Based on switches operated, adjusts seat accordingly Seat memory switch LH (for driver side) (SET switch, memory switch) When the M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed while the SET switch being pressed, or M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed within 3 seconds after the SET switch is pressed, a signal is input to multiplex network master switch and sent to position control ECU, which records seat position When M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed, signal is input to multiplex network master switch and sent to position control ECU, which changes seat position to recorded position Seat memory switch RH (for front passenger side) (SET switch, memory switch) When the M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed while the SET switch being pressed, or M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed within 3 seconds after the SET switch is pressed, a signal is input to front multiplex network door ECU RH and sent to position control ECU, which records seat position When M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed, signal is input to multiplex network master switch and sent to position control ECU, which changes seat position to recorded position
  3. SYSTEM OPERATION The front power seat adjustment and position memory are shown in the chart below. For the front passenger side memory function, memory switch operation is first transferred from the front multiplex network door ECU RH to the position control ECU via the multiplex communication line. Then, either the seat position is recorded in memory or a previously recorded seat position is recalled.

DESCRIPTION

Signals of the front power seat switch are monitored by the position control ECU and switch. The position control ECU and switch then activates the driver and front passenger side motors.

  1. INSPECT FUSE (FR P/SEAT LH, FR P/SEAT RH, R/B-B, D/C CUT, MPX-B) Remove the FR P/SEAT LH fuse from the main body ECU LH. Remove the FR P/SEAT RH fuse from the main body ECU RH. Remove the R/B-B fuse from the fuse block. Remove the D/C CUT and MPX-B fuses from the engine room No. 1 relay block. Measure the resistance of the fuses. Standard resistance Below 1 ohms NG --> REPLACE FUSE OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POSITION CONTROL ECU AND SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) Disconnect the a6*2, a7*2, b7*1 and b8*1 switch connectors. Measure the voltage and resistance of the wire harness side connectors. When the power seat control switch is operated, a command signal is sent to the position control ECU. The position control ECU then controls the appropriate seat motor as needed. This memory system does not use a seat position sensor. The seat position is detected by counting pulses that are output when the motor turns. If there is no pulse output from the motor, the motor will stop operating. The position control ECU is designed so that a malfunction of the seat memory system will not interfere with manual seat control.

Check operation of the slide motor. Check if the seat adjuster moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the slide motor connector terminals. Disconnect the b3*1, b4*1, b10*1, b15*1, a1*2, a4*2, a10*2 or a15*2 motor connector. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors. The driver side seat memory switch sends signals to the position control ECU LH to memorize a given seat position via the multiplex network master switch. The front passenger side seat memory switch signals the position control ECU RH to memorize a given seat position via the front multiplex network door ECU RH. This memory system does not use a seat position sensor. The seat position is detected by counting pulses that are output when the motor turns. If there is no pulse output from the motor, the motor will stop operating. The seat memory switch sends signals to the position control ECU to return to one of the memorized positions.

  2. CHECK SEAT MEMORY SWITCH FUNCTION (SEAT POSITION MEMORY FUNCTION) Perform a memory operation properly. Check that the buzzer sounds to indicate the completion of the memory operation. NOTE: The seat position will not be recorded if the SET switch and 2 or more of the memory switches (for example, M1 and M2) are pressed simultaneously. If a memorizing operation has failed, release all switches. The seat memory function does not operate unless the switches are released. OK Seat memory switch function operates normally.   8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH - SEAT MEMORY SWITCH LH) Disconnect the M9 ECU connector. Disconnect the Q10 switch connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. When the driver side M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed, the multiplex network master switch controls the position control ECU (via the multiplex communication line) to drive each motor until the seat reaches the memorized position. When the front passenger side M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed, the front multiplex network door ECU RH controls the position control ECU (via the multiplex communication line) to drive each motor until the seat reaches the memorized position.

With the power switch OFF and the driver side door closed, press the M1, M2 or M3 switch and the transmitter's LOCK or UNLOCK switch. The main body ECU RH will receive a key recognition code signal through wireless radio waves, and send the key recognition code signal to the position control ECU and switch via the BEAN line. The position control ECU and switch then organizes the key recognition code received from the memory switch and sounds the buzzer (answer back) when the code is registered.

When the transmitter is used to unlock the doors, the main body ECU RH sends a wireless unlock or entry unlock signal and key recognition code signal to the position control ECU and switch, which records the key recognition code. The position control ECU and switch then memorizes any seat position, memory call operations and memory call commands, and links them to the key recognition code.

When the door is unlocked by the wireless unlock operation

When the driver side door is opened, the position control ECU and switch receives the door courtesy light switch signal from the main body ECU RH. Then the ECU sends the memory call command signals to the appropriate ECU. The ECU that receives the signals then performs the memory call function according to standard control timing*.

When the door is unlocked by the entry unlock operation

When the driver side door is opened, the position control ECU and switch receives the memory call command signal via the BEAN line from the certification ECU. Then the ECU sends the memory call command signals to the appropriate ECU. The ECU that receives the signals then performs the memory call function according to standard control timing*.
