- COOLANT LEAK (for Inverter) Remove the inverter radiator cap. WARNING: To avoid the danger of being burned, do not remove the inverter radiator cap while the coolant for inverter is still hot. Only hold the cap when removing the inverter radiator cap. Holding other parts may cause your fingers to be caught between the cap and the protrusion on the filler tank. Install the radiator cap tester. Pump the radiator cap tester to 37 kPa (0.38 kgf/cm 2 , 5.4 psi), and then check that the pressure does not drop. HINT: If the pressure drops, check the hoses, radiator, water pump, inverter with converter and hybrid vehicle transmission assembly for leakage. Reinstall the inverter radiator cap.
- COOLANT LEVEL IS RESERVOIR (for Inverter) The coolant should be between the LOW and FULL lines when the engine is cold. HINT: The engine cooling system and inverter cooling system share the same reservoir tank. If the coolant level is low, check for leakage and add TOYOTA Super Long Life Coolant (SLLC) or similar high quality ethylene glycol based non-silicate, non-amine, non-nitrite, and non-borate coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology up to the FULL line.
- COOLANT (for Inverter) Remove the inverter radiator reservoir cap. WARNING: To avoid the danger of being burned, do not remove the inverter radiator cap while the coolant for inverter are still hot. Only hold the cap when removing the inverter radiator cap. Holding other parts may cause your fingers to be caught between the cap and the protrusion on the filler tank. Check for excessive deposits of rust or scale on and around the inverter radiator cap and filler tank opening. HINT: If excessively dirty, replace the coolant for inverter. Reinstall the inverter radiator cap.
- INSPECT INVERTER RADIATOR CAP Check the inverter radiator cap. If there are water stains or foreign matter on the rubber packing, clean it with water and finger scouring. Check that the metal, resin, and rubber parts of the cap are not deformed, cracked, or broken. Check that the packing is not swollen. Check that the vacuum valve is not stuck. Check the operation of the inverter radiator cap. Using the radiator cap tester, slowly pump the tester and check that air comes out from the vacuum valve. Pumping speed 1 pump per 3 seconds NOTE: Be sure to pump at a constant speed. HINT: If air does not come out from the vacuum valve, replace the inverter radiator cap. Pump the radiator cap tester and measure the relief valve opening pressure. Pumping speed 1 pump per second NOTE: This pump speed is only for the first pump (in order to close the vacuum valve). The pump speed can be reduced after the first pump stroke. Judgment criterion Item Specified Condition Standard valve (for brand-new cap) 15 to 44 kPa (0.15 to 0.45 kgf/cm 2 , 2.1 to 6.4 psi) Minimum standard valve (after using cap) 12 kPa (0.12 kgf/cm 2 , 1.7 psi) HINT: Use the maximum reading as the opening pressure. If the opening pressure is less than the minimum standard value, replace the radiator cap.

- DRAIN COOLANT (for Inverter) NOTE: Collect the drained coolant and measure its volume to ensure that more coolant than the measured volume is added. Remove the inverter radiator cap. WARNING: Only hold the cap when removing the inverter radiator cap. Holding other parts may cause your fingers to be caught between the cap and the protrusion on the filler tank. Using a hexagon wrench (6 mm), loosen the bleeder plug indicated in illustration A and connect the hose. NOTE: Insert the other end of the hose into the filler tank. Be sure to hold the bleeder when loosening the bleeder plug. Remove the clip and plug indicated in illustration B and connect the hose. NOTE: Do not reuse the clip or plug. Insert the other end of the hose into the filler tank. Loosen the drain plug indicated in the illustration to drain the coolant. NOTE: Be sure to use a tool to hold the end of the hose when loosening the drain plug After draining the coolant, tighten the drain plug. Torque: 13 N*m ( 130 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the drain plug indicated in the illustration and drain the coolant. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the drain plug with a new gasket. Torque: 39 N*m ( 398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf)

Using a hexagon wrench (6 mm), tighten the bleeder plug indicated in illustration A. Torque: 1.5 N*m ( 15 kgf*cm, 13 in.*lbf) NOTE: If the bleeder plug is tightened to more than the specified torque, the end of the connected hose may be deformed. Disconnect the hose indicated in illustration B, and install a new plug and a new clip. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on. On the system selection screen, enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Activate the Water Pump. According to the display on the tester, perform the appropriate active test. HINT: The water pump can also be operated using inspection mode. Refer to «INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE»(ref-386951-S02694824562011022400000) . While adding coolant so that the coolant level is kept around the opening of the filler tank, operate the water pump for approximately 3 minutes and then stop it for one minute. HINT: l If the water pump operates without a sufficient amount of coolant for approximately 5 seconds, the protective circuit will activate to stop the water pump for approximately 15 seconds. If a sufficient amount of coolant is added, the water pump will start operating automatically. l If an excessive amount of coolant is added to the filler tank, coolant may overflow when operation of the water pump is stopped. While adding coolant so that the coolant level is kept around the opening of the filler tank, operate the water pump for approximately 1 minute and stop it for 1 minute and repeat this procedure until bleeding is completed. Standard When the operational sound volume of the water pump becomes small or when no air bubbles can be seen in the filler tank, bleeding of the coolant system is complete. After bleeding is completed, add coolant until the coolant level is around the opening of the filler tank. Install the inverter radiator cap. NOTE: Make sure that more coolant than the volume collected coolant volume is added.

- CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE Using the voltmeter, measure the voltage between the terminals of the 2 phase connectors (N-P). Standard voltage 0 V WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. HINT: Use measuring range of DC 750 V or more on the voltmeter.
- SEPARATE GENERATOR CABLE Remove the 2 bolts (A). WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: Removing bolts A and B in a wrong order may cause the cable and the inverter with converter to break. While loosening bolt B, disconnect the generator cable. WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: Removing bolts A and B in a wrong order may cause the cable and the inverter with converter to break. Insulate the removed terminals with insulating tape. Cover the hole where the cable was connected with tape or equivalent (non-residue type) to prevent entry of foreign matter.
- SEPARATE MOTOR CABLE Remove the 2 bolts (A). WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: Removing bolts A and B in a wrong order may cause the cable and the inverter with converter to break. While loosening bolt B, disconnect the motor cable. WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: Removing bolts A and B may cause the cable and the inverter with converter to break. Insulate the removed terminals with insulating tape. Cover the hole where the cable was connected with tape or equivalent (non-residue type) to prevent entry of foreign matter. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the inverter motor cable bracket.
- SEPARATE AIR CONDITIONING HARNESS ASSEMBLY Disconnect the air conditioning harness assembly. WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: Insulate the removed terminals with insulating tape.
- SEPARATE FRAME WIRE Remove the bolt and disconnect the frame wire. WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: Insulate the removed terminals with insulating tape.
- REMOVE NO. 6 INVERTER BRACKET Remove the 2 bolts and No. 6 inverter bracket.
- REMOVE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY Raise the lock lever and disconnect the inverter with converter connector. NOTE: Cover the hole where the connector was connected with tape or equivalent (non-residue type) to prevent entry of foreign matter. Disconnect the wire harness clamp. Remove the 2 clips, and disconnect the No. 8 inverter cooling hose and No. 13 inverter cooling hose. NOTE: Cover the disconnected water hose and pipe with a plastic bag and tape to prevent coolant from spilling. Remove the 4 bolts and inverter with converter assembly. WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: 2 people are needed to remove the inverter with converter assembly.
- REMOVE HIGH VOLTAGE FUSE Remove the 2 nuts and high voltage fuse. WARNING: Wear insulating gloves.

- INSTALL HIGH VOLTAGE FUSE Install the high voltage fuse with 2 new nuts. Torque: 4.0 N*m ( 41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf) WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: Be sure to use a torque wrench to tighten the nuts.
- INSTALL INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY Install the inverter with converter assembly with 4 new bolts. Torque: 8.0 N*m ( 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: 2 people are needed to remove the inverter with converter assembly. Connect the No. 8 inverter cooling hose and No. 13 inverter cooling hose with the 2 clips. Connect the inverter with converter connector and lock the connector with the lock lever. Connect the wire harness clamp.
- INSTALL NO. 6 INVERTER BRACKET Install the No. 6 inverter bracket with 2 new bolts. Torque: 8.0 N*m ( 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)
- CONNECT FRAME WIRE Connect the frame wire to the inverter with converter assembly. Fix the frame wire to the inverter with converter assembly with the bolt. Torque: 8.0 N*m ( 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) WARNING: Wear insulating gloves.
- REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING HARNESS ASSEMBLY Connect the air conditioning harness assembly to the inverter with converter assembly. WARNING: Wear insulating gloves.
- CONNECT MOTOR CABLE Connect the motor cable. Tighten bolt B and insert the motor cable into the inverter with converter assembly. Torque: 8.0 N*m ( 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: Tightening bolts A and B in a wrong order may cause the cable and the inverter with converter to break. Make sure that the tightening torque is between 6.4 and 9.6 N*m (65 and 98 kgf*cm, 57 and 85 in.*lbf). Fix the motor cable to the inverter with converter assembly with the 2 bolts (A). Torque: 8.0 N*m ( 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) WARNING: Wear insulating gloves. NOTE: Tightening bolts A and B in a wrong order may cause the cable and the inverter with converter to break. Make sure that the tightening torque is between 6.4 and 9.6 N*m (65 and 98 kgf*cm, 57 and 85 in.*lbf). Fix the generator cable to the inverter with converter assembly with the 2 bolts (A).
