  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (DTC P0A1F-123 IS OUTPUT) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes. Check if DTCs are output. Result DTC P0A1F-123 is output. YES --> GO TO INSPECTION PROCEDURE RELEVANT TO OUTPUT DTC NO: Go to next step
  2. CHECK DUCT AND BLOWER Remove the luggage compartment front trim cover . Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-387094-S30075231042011022400000) . Remove the No. 6 HV battery intake duct . Refer to «COMPONENTS»(ref-387094-S20340730302011022400000) . Check that the intake ducts and battery cooling blower are not disconnected, damaged, or clogged with foreign objects, and that the silencers have not peeled off. OK The ducts and blower are not disconnected, damaged, or clogged with foreign objects and the silencers have not peeled off. NG --> CORRECT PROBLEM OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY SMART UNIT - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) Disconnect the battery cooling blower assembly connector. Disconnect connector A54 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance (Check for short) Tester Connection Specified Condition SI (N5-3) or SI0 (A54-57) - Body ground 10 kohms or higher NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  4. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU Remove the hybrid vehicle control ECU . Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-387078-S25385458682011022400000) . Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance (Check for short) Tester Connection Specified Condition SI0 (A54-57) - E1 (A54-18) 10 kohms or higher SI0 (A54-57) - EC (A54-104) 10 kohms or higher SI0 (A54-57) - E02 (E84-50) 10 kohms or higher SI0 (A54-57) - E01 (E84-51) 10 kohms or higher SI0 (A54-57) - E12 (E84-52) 10 kohms or higher NG --> REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU OK: Go to next step
  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Driving the Battery Cooling Fan. Select the following menu items: User Data / VMF Fan Motor Voltage1. Select each air volume mode (1 to 6) in the Battery Cooling Fan active test to operate the battery cooling blower assembly. While the cooling fan is operating, compare the value in the user data (VMF Fan Motor Voltage 1) with the voltage value that was actually measured at the battery cooling blower assembly connector. Standard Tester Connection Specified Condition VM (N5-2) - GND (N5-4) There is no difference between the value in the data list (cooling fan voltage) and the voltage value that was actually measured at the battery cooling blower assembly connector. OK Difference of voltage is 1 V or less. HINT: Compare the values in each air volume mode (1 to 6). NG --> See step 7 OK --> See step 6

Scheme 804: DESCRIPTION
  1. The speed of the battery cooling blower assembly is controlled by the hybrid vehicle control ECU. Battery cooling blower assembly power is supplied when the FCTL terminal of the hybrid vehicle control ECU turns on the battery blower relay. The hybrid vehicle control ECU sends command signals (SI) to the battery cooling blower assembly to get the fan speed corresponding to the HV battery temperature. Information about the voltage applied to the battery cooling blower assembly (VM) is sent to the hybrid vehicle control ECU as a monitor signal using serial communication via the battery smart unit.

WARNINGBefore inspecting the high-voltage system, take safety precautions such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system. After disconnecting the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals.

HINT

Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly.

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Driving the Battery Cooling Fan. HINT: Check Cooling Fan Mode 1 in the data list using the Techstream. If the cooling fan mode is 6, it is not necessary to perform the active test. Select air volume mode 6 in the Battery Cooling Fan active test to operate the battery cooling blower assembly. Check that the fan operates and air is sucked into the inlet duct of the package tray trim panel assembly. HINT: The cooling fan may not stop even when turning the cooling fan off in the Battery Cooling Fan active test. This is due to HV system control and not a malfunction. OK The fan operates. OK --> See step 14 NG: Go to next step
  3. CHECK FUSE (BATT FAN) Remove the BATT FAN fuse from the engine room R/B No. 1. Measure the resistance. Standard resistance Below 1 ohms OK --> See step 7 NG: Go to next step
  4. REPLACE FUSE (BATT FAN) NEXT: Go to next step
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATT FAN FUSE - BODY GROUND) Remove the BATT FAN relay from the engine room R/B No. 1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance (Check for short) Tester Connection Specified Condition BATT FAN fuse 2 - Body ground 10 kohms or higher NOTE: When taking measurements with an electrical tester, do not apply excessive force to the tester probes to avoid damaging the fuse holder or terminals.   6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY COOLING BLOWER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) Remove the luggage compartment front trim cover . Refer to «COMPONENTS»(ref-387094-S20340730302011022400000) . Turn the power switch on (IG). Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Driving the Battery Cooling Fan. Select Cooling Fan Mode 0 in the Driving the Battery Cooling Fan active test to stop the battery cooling blower assembly. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard voltage Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition SI (N5-3) - GND (N5-4) Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 5.5 V HINT: Perform this inspection with the battery cooling blower assembly connector connected.
