DESCRIPTION

The clock assembly uses this circuit to communicate with the A/C amplifier via the direct line. The clock assembly uses this circuit to receive auto dimmer signals. When the clock assembly receives an auto dimmer signal from the main body ECU through the A/C amplifier via the direct line, the clock assembly causes the clock display to be dimmed.

HINT

If the automatic light control sensor has a malfunction, DTC B1244 is output.

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Check if CAN communication DTC is output (See «DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM»(ref-283107-S41788043622008041700000) ).   2. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM Check the heater control panel illumination. OK: The heater control panel illumination operates normally. NG: GO TO «AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM»(ref-283108-S12578108312008041700000) OK: Go to Next Step
  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3. Engine switch on (IG). Turn the tester ON. Light control switch TAIL/HEAD. Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / BODY / MAIN BODY / ACTIVE TEST. Check the clock illumination. MAIN BODY: ITEM TEST DETAIL Item Test Details Diagnostic Note DIMMER SIG Auto dimmer signal ON/OFF - OK: The clock illumination is dimmed when the DIMMER SIG is ON. HINT: Refer to the sensitivity setting in the customization table of the automatic light control system (See «CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS»(ref-283105-S33907569182008041700000) ). NG: Go to step 4 OK: REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ILL+) Disconnect the E3 (*1)/E18 (*2) connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.   6. INSPECT CLOCK ASSEMBLY Reconnect the E19 connector. Check the waveform shown in the illustration below. This circuit is the power source for the clock assembly. This circuit provides two types of power sources; one is a constant power source mainly used as a backup power source, and the other is a power source mainly used for signal transmission. The constant power source is mainly used as a backup power source of the clock assembly, however, it is also used for communication.

HINT

If the clock assembly displays "1:00" when the engine switch is turned off, then on (IG) again, the +B (*1)/B (*2) terminal has a malfunction.

The maximum clock assembly margin of error is -4 to 4 seconds per day when the temperature is between -20°C (-4°F) and 60°C (140°F).
