REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
Removal
- Remove the left front fender liner. Remove the 2 screws. (Scheme 15) Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips and a part of the front fender liner.
- Remove the screw and the right front fender liner within the range that the front bumper cover can be removed.
- Remove the front bumper cover. Remove the 9 screws. (Scheme 23) Using a screwdriver, remove the clip. Disconnect the 4 connectors. Disconnect the hooks and remove the front bumper cover.
- Remove the headlight assembly. Remove the 4 screws and disconnect the connectors. (Scheme 16) Pull the headlight unit forward and remove the headlight assembly.
- Remove the clearance light bulb. (Scheme 17)
- Remove the front turn signal lamp bulb.
- Remove the headlight No. 2 bulb.
- On vehicles with halogen headlights, remove the headlight No. 1 bulb.
- On vehicles with discharge headlights, remove the discharge headlight bulb. Remove the headlight bulb cover. (Scheme 18) Rotate the bulb socket cover counterclockwise and pull it off backward of the vehicle. (Scheme 19) Release the lock of the set spring and remove the discharge headlight bulb.
- On vehicles with discharge headlights, remove the left sub-assembly headlight light control ECU. Remove the 4 screws and the headlight light ECU cover. (Scheme 20) Remove the 2 screws. (Scheme 21) Release the claw and disconnect the connector. (Scheme 22) Remove the left headlight control ECU sub-assembly.

Installation
Note. For installation, reverse removal procedure except where noted below.
- Install the left upper headlight protector retainer. Cut off the part shaded in the illustration and sand it with sandpaper. (Scheme 24) After cutting off the part roughly, place the headlight protector retainer UPPER left against the bosses and gradually file any interfering part until the proper condition for installation is made. Install the headlight protector retainer UPPER LH with 2 screws. (Scheme 25)
- Install the left lower headlight protector retainer. Cut off the part shaded in the illustration and sand it with sandpaper. (Scheme 26) After cutting off the part roughly, place the headlight protector retainer LOWER left against the bosses and gradually file any interfering part until the proper condition for installation is made. Install the headlight protector retainer LOWER LH with the 2 screws. (Scheme 27)
- Perform step 1 of HEADLIGHT AIM under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Adjust fog light aim. See «FOG LIGHT AIM»(ref-152492-S31670425112003020700000) under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Adjust headlight aim only. See «HEADLIGHT AIM»(ref-152492-S05050097152003020700000) under ADJUSTMENTS.

- Disconnect the connector.
- Align the matchmark with one on the right rear height control sensor sub-assembly and bracket.
- Remove a nut. (Scheme 28)
- Remove the 2 nuts and right rear height control sensor sub-assembly.

- Install the right rear height control sensor link with the 2 nuts. Tighten the nuts to 71 INCH Lbs. (8 N.m).
- Align the matchmark with the one on the right rear height control sensor sub-assembly and bracket.
- Install the right rear height control sensor sub-assembly. Tighten the nut to 48 INCH Lbs. (5.4 N.m).
- Connect the connector.
- Adjust the headlight aim only. See «HEADLIGHT AIM»(ref-152492-S05050097152003020700000) under ADJUSTMENTS.
