Master Switch

All windows can be controlled from master switch on driver's door panel. One of the individual switches on master switch controls driver's window. All other individual switches control passenger's windows.

Passenger's Switches

Window switch on each passenger's door controls the window.

Window Lock Switch

When button for window lock switch (located in master switch assembly) is depressed, passenger's windows cannot be operated from master switch or passenger's switches. Only driver's window can be operated. To turn window lock function off, press button again and it will pop up.

Partial Lowering & "One-Touch" Lowering Of Driver's Window

To partially lower driver's window, press button slightly and hold it there until window is at desired level. To fully lower window without having to hold button down, press button down firmly and release it. This function, referred to as "one-touch" mode. "One-touch" function is controlled by a logic circuit in master switch.

Operating Conditions

The windows can be operated for about one minute after ignition is turned off, or until either front door has been opened. This function is referred to as "key off".

WINDOW MOTOR

  1. Disconnect window motor connector. Apply battery voltage and ground between motor connector terminals. Motor should operate. To reverse motor direction, reverse polarity of voltage to motor. Replace motor if it does not operate.
  2. If battery voltage is applied to motor after window has stopped moving, a circuit breaker in motor should open in 4-40 seconds and window motor should stop. After circuit breaker opens, reverse polarity of voltage to motor.
  3. Within 60 seconds, motor should move in opposite direction, indicating circuit breaker has reset. Replace motor if necessary.

POWER MAIN RELAY

Remove relay (located in junction block, on left side of instrument panel). (Scheme 2) Replace relay if it does not operate as follows

  1. No continuity should exist between terminals No. 3 and 5.
  2. Apply battery voltage and ground between terminals No. 1 and 2. Continuity should exist between terminals No. 3 and 5.

Remove master switch. Check for continuity between specified terminals of master switch with switch in indicated position. (Scheme 3) See MASTER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. If continuity is not as specified, replace master switch.

MASTER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST

MASTER SWITCH ILLUMINATION

Remove master switch. Apply battery voltage and ground to switch terminals No. 1 and 7. (Scheme 3) Switch should illuminate. Press passenger window lock switch. Passenger switches should not be illuminated. If switch does not operate as specified, replace switch.

PASSENGER'S (SINGLE) SWITCH

Remove passenger's switch in question. Check for continuity between switch terminals as specified. (Scheme 3) See PASSENGER'S SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. If continuity is not as specified, replace passenger's switch.

MASTER SWITCH POWER & GROUND

Disconnect master switch. Check continuity between master switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire) and Ground. Continuity should exist. Measure voltage between master switch harness connector terminal No. 7 (Blue wire) and ground. Battery voltage should exist with ignition on. Repair circuits as necessary if continuity or voltage is not as specified.

KEY OFF ACCESSORY SYSTEM CHECK

Backprobe for voltage between integration relay harness connector terminal A3 and ground. (Scheme 4) Turn ignition on, then off. Battery voltage should exist for about 60 seconds, or until a door is opened. If voltage is not as specified, check integration relay circuits.
