SELF-DIAGNOSTICS

A/C control assembly monitors system circuits and stores a code in memory if a problem is detected. All codes are stored in memory except Codes 22 and 23. Malfunction is current if Code 22 or 23 is displayed. To retrieve stored codes, see RETRIEVING CODES . Codes are displayed at A/C control assembly temperature display.

TESTING

WARNINGTo avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM procedures in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT SECTION.

Air Outlet Servomotor Functional Test

  1. Remove air outlet servomotor. See «AIR OUTLET SERVOMOTOR»(ref-36442-S29460762732001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Unplug air outlet servomotor connector.
  2. Connect air outlet servomotor terminal No. 2 (Red/Blue wire) to battery voltage. (Scheme 4) Connect terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire) to ground. Air outlet servomotor lever should move to specified position when the appropriate terminal is grounded. See «AIR OUTLET SERVOMOTOR LEVER POSITIONS»(ref-36442-S38529283142001010900000) table.
  3. Replace air outlet servomotor if it does not operate as specified. If servomotor operates correctly, inspect wiring harness and connectors between servomotor and A/C control assembly. If wiring harness and connectors are okay, substitute known good A/C control assembly. Retest system.

SELF-DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT

Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals TC and E1 of diagnostic connector, located under left side of instrument panel. (Scheme 5) If meter indicates battery voltage, circuit is okay. If meter does not indicate battery voltage, inspect wiring and connectors associated with A/C control assembly and diagnostic connector. If wiring is okay, substitute known good A/C control assembly. Retest system.
