- PRECAUTION FOR HEADLIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT If even a thin film of oil is left on the surface of a halogen bulb, its service life will be shortened because the light will burn at a higher temperature. When replacing a bulb, be sure to hold the flanged part of the light so that your hand does not contact the glass part of the bulb. Always prepare a new bulb for immediate replacement. While replacing the bulb, the lens may attract dust and moisture if removed from the vehicle for a long time. Always replace a bulb with another bulb of the same wattage. If only replacing the bulb on one side, differences in brightness and lighting color between the right and left sides may occur. Securely install the socket after bulb replacement. The lens may become cloudy or the light cavity may be filled with water through gaps around the socket if it is not installed securely.

CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS
- CUSTOMIZE LIGHTING SYSTEM HINT: The following items can be customized. NOTE: When the customer requests a change in a function, first make sure that the function can be customized. Be sure to make a note of the current settings before customizing. When troubleshooting a function, first make sure that the function is set to the default setting. Customizing with the Techstream Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch to on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: for Illuminated Entry: Body Electrical / Main Body / Utility / Customize / Illuminated Entry. for Light Control: Body Electrical / Main Body / Utility / Customize / Light Control. Select the setting by referring to the table below. ILLUMINATED ENTRY Display Default Content Setting Relevant ECU Mirr-Foot-Lgt Approached ON Lights up the door mirror foot lights when a key enters any actuation area around the doors. Turn the power switch on (IG). Enter the following menus: SETTINGS / VEHICLE SETTINGS. Select the setting by referring to the table below. INITIALIZATION
Note. Initialize the headlight leveling ECU assembly when the headlight leveling ECU assembly is replaced. Initialize the headlight leveling ECU assembly (set the zero point of the height control sensor in the headlight leveling ECU assembly) after the vehicle height changes due to replacement of suspension components or after performing such operations as removal and reinstallation or replacement of the rear height control sensor sub-assembly. Adjust the headlight aim after initializing the headlight leveling ECU assembly. Refer to ADJUSTMENT . When a malfunction is detected in the automatic headlight beam level control system, height control sensor signal initialization is impossible. Perform troubleshooting before initialization.

- PREPARE VEHICLE FOR INITIALIZATION Unload the trunk and vehicle, ensuring that the spare tire, tools and jack are in their original positions. Check that there are no occupants in the vehicle. Turn off the headlights. Stop the vehicle on a level surface and keep the vehicle height unchanged. NEXT: Go to next step
- CHECK HEADLIGHT LEVELING INDICATOR LIGHT Turn the power switch on (IG), and check the indicator light. OK Condition Specified Condition The headlight leveling ECU assembly has been replaced with a new one. Indicator light continuously blinks 6 times at 2 Hz. Replacement of the rear height control sensor sub-assembly, removal and reinstallation of the rear height control sensor sub-assembly, replacement of the suspension, etc. have been performed. Indicator light comes on for approximately 3 seconds, and then goes off (bulb check function). HINT: If the indicator light does not come on when turning the power switch on (IG), inspect and repair it according to Problem Symptoms Table. Refer to «PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE»(ref-568605-S19186653942013072300000) . NG --> GO TO «PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE»(ref-568605-S37106169962013072300000) OK: Go to next step
- INITIALIZATION Connect terminals 4 (CG) and 8 (LVL) of the DLC3 using SST. SST: 09843-18040 Turn the low beam headlights on and off using the light control switch within 20 seconds after connecting the terminals. HINT: The number of times the low beam headlights need to be turned on and off is determined by the present fuel level as shown below. Fuel Level Number of Times to Turn Low Beam Headlights on and off Fuel level is within A range. 1 Fuel level is within B range. 2 Fuel level is within C range. 3 Fuel level is within D range. 4 Fuel level is within E range. 5 NOTE: Turn the low beam headlights on and off at less than 3-second intervals. Be sure to operate the light control switch from outside the vehicle. Check the indicator light. OK Condition Specified Condition The headlight leveling ECU assembly has been replaced with a new one. Blinks 6 times at 2 Hz --> Continuously blinks N*1 times at 2 Hz. Replacement of the rear height control sensor sub-assembly, removal and reinstallation of the rear height control sensor sub-assembly, replacement of the suspension, etc. have been performed. Off --> Continuously blinks N*1 times at 2 Hz. HINT: *1: The number of times that the indicator blinks is determined by the number of times the low beam headlights are turned on and off. If initialization cannot be finished normally, disconnect SST from the DLC3 and turn the power switch off. Then, restart from procedure 1. NG --> GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE OK --> TURN POWER SWITCH OFF (END)
FAIL-SAFE CHART
- LED HEADLIGHT SYSTEM The light control ECU operates in fail-safe mode if an abnormal condition such as those listed below has been detected. - AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM If the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) detects a malfunction in the automatic light control sensor, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) performs fail-safe control to prohibit the automatic light control. If the low beam headlights and taillights are on, the lights will remain on until the light control switch is turned off.
- AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM The headlight leveling ECU assembly operates in fail-safe mode if an abnormal condition such as those listed below has been detected, and keep the last low beam status.
