PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK FOR DTC Clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568605-S41597265672013072300000) . Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568605-S41597265672013072300000) . OK DTC B241A is not output. NG --> See step 2 OK --> See step 7
  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / HL Auto Leveling / Data List. Read the display on the Techstream. HL AUTO LEVELING Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Height Sens Pw Supply Val Rear height control sensor power supply value / 0 to 6.25 V Approx. 5.0 V - Rr Height Sens Signal Val Rear height control sensor signal value / 0 to 5 V Approx. 2.5 V (When the vehicle is level) Value changes according to vehicle height OK Normal conditions listed above are displayed. NG --> See step 3 OK --> See step 5
  3. INSPECT REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series. Remove the Rear height control sensor sub-assembly. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568776-S33200513492013072300000) . Connect the positive (+) lead from the batteries to terminal 3 (SHB) and the negative (-) lead from the batteries to terminal 1 (SHG). Measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SHRR) and 1 (SHG) while slowly moving the link up and down. Standard Voltage Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 2 (SHRR) - 1 (SHG) +45° (High) 4.05 V -22.7° (Normal) 2.25 V -45° (Low) 0.45 V TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Component without harness connected (Rear height control sensor sub-assembly) NG --> See step 6 OK: Go to next step
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY - REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR) Disconnect the A46 headlight leveling ECU assembly connector. Disconnect the R2 rear height control sensor sub-assembly connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A46-19 (SHRL) - R2-2 (SHRR) Always Below 1 ohms A46-19 (SHRL) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK --> See step 5
  5. REPLACE HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568776-S37696514352013072300000)
  6. REPLACE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568776-S33200513492013072300000)
  7. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-568589-S05901111982013072300000)
  1. CHECK FOR DTC Clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568605-S41597265672013072300000) . Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568605-S41597265672013072300000) . OK DTC B2420 is not output. NG --> See step 2 OK --> See step 3
  2. REPLACE HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568776-S37696514352013072300000)
  3. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-568589-S05901111982013072300000)
  1. PERFORM INITIALIZATION Perform initialization of the headlight leveling ECU assembly. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-568605-S42308847012013072300000) . NEXT: Go to next step
  2. RECHECK FOR DTC Using the Techstream, recheck for DTCs. Result Result Proceed to DTC B2450 is not output. A DTC B2450 is output. B HINT: If the headlight leveling ECU assembly stores DTC B2450 even though the ECU has been initialized, there may be a malfunction in the headlight leveling ECU assembly. B --> See step 3 A --> END
  3. REPLACE HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568776-S37696514352013072300000)
  1. REPLACE HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU Replace the headlight leveling ECU with one that has vehicle specifications stored. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568776-S37696514352013072300000) . NEXT: Go to next step
  2. PERFORM HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU INITIALIZATION Perform initialization of the headlight leveling ECU. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-568605-S42308847012013072300000) . NEXT --> END
  1. PERFORM INITIALIZATION Perform initialization of the headlight leveling ECU assembly. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-568605-S42308847012013072300000) . HINT: Before initializing, make sure that the vehicle condition is proper for initialization. Be sure to perform the initialization as instructed. NEXT: Go to next step
  2. RECHECK FOR DTC Using the Techstream, recheck for DTCs. Result Result Proceed to DTC B2452 is not output. A DTC B2452 is output. B HINT: If the headlight leveling ECU assembly stores DTC B2452 even though the ECU has been initialized as instructed, there may be a malfunction in the headlight leveling ECU assembly.   3. REPLACE HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568776-S37696514352013072300000)

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY - AUXILIARY BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the 1G and 1H No. 1 integration relay connectors. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Voltage Tester Connector Switch Condition Specified Condition 1G-14 (IG1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V 1H-7 (BATT) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1G-22 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms 1H-3 (GND2) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) Disconnect the 1G No. 1 integration relay connector. Disconnect the A19 power management control ECU connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1G-13 (BKUP) - A19-15 (BL) Always Below 1 ohms 1G-13 (BKUP) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY - RELAY AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the 1G No. 1 integration relay connector. Disconnect the V2 or V9 rear combination light assembly connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1G-3 (BCK1) - V2-2 (B/U) Always Below 1 ohms 1G-3 (BCK1) - V9-2 (B/U) Always Below 1 ohms 1G-3 (BCK1) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher V2-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms V9-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  5. REPLACE NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY Replace the No. 1 integration relay with a new or a known good one. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568756-S04160177552013072300000) . Check that the back-up lights operate normally. OK The back-up lights operate normally. NG --> REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU OK --> END (NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY WAS DEFECTIVE)
  6. GO TO HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART»(ref-568739-S34469312312013072300000)

Disconnect the A46 headlight leveling ECU assembly connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1G-11 (HL4B) - A46-3 (HDLP) Always Below 1 ohms 1G-11 (HL4B) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  3. REPLACE NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY Replace the No. 1 integration relay with a new or a known good one. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568756-S04160177552013072300000) . Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / HL Auto Leveling / Data List. Read the display on the Techstream. HL AUTO LEVELING Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Headlight Low Beam State Low beam headlight state/ON or OFF ON: Low beam headlights on OFF: Low beam headlights off - OK Normal conditions listed above are displayed.   1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (READY). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / HL Auto Leveling / Active Test. Check that the leveling motors operate. HL AUTO LEVELING Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Drive The Leveling Motor UP Leveling motor upward operation ON/OFF ON: Move up OFF: Stop Drive The Leveling Motor DOWN Leveling motor downward operation ON/OFF ON: Move down OFF: Stop OK Headlight leveling motors operate normally.   2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY) Disconnect the A46 headlight leveling ECU assembly connector. Disconnect the A8 or A39 headlight assembly connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
