INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note. After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work. Refer to PRECAUTION .

HINT

  1. If troubleshooting (wire harness inspection) is difficult to perform, remove the front passenger seat installation bolts to see under the seat cushion.
  2. In the above case, lift and hold the seat so that it does not fall down. Hold the seat only as necessary because holding the seat for a long period of time may cause seat rail deformation.

  1. CHECK CONNECTORS Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the occupant detection ECU and front seat inner belt assembly RH. OK The connectors are properly connected. HINT: If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection. Disconnect the connectors from the occupant detection ECU and front seat inner belt assembly RH. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged. OK The terminals are not deformed or damaged. NG --> REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.   3. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (OPEN) Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Using SST, connect terminals 1 (BSW) and 2 (BGND) of connector C. NOTE: Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting. SST: 09843-18040 Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   6. CHECK DTC Connect the connectors to the occupant detection ECU and front seat inner belt assembly RH. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant detection ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568615-S18331892592013072300000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568761-S06551148112013072300000) . Turn the power switch off. Turn the power switch on (IG). Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568615-S18331892592013072300000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than DTC B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 7 OK --> See step 11
  7. CHECK FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Replace the front seat inner belt assembly RH with a known good one. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568592-S33038158352013072300000) for Manual seat. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568592-S20024442842013072300000) for Power seat). HINT: Perform the following inspection using known good parts from another vehicle if possible. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant detection ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568615-S18331892592013072300000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568761-S06551148112013072300000) . Turn the power switch off. Turn the power switch on (IG). Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568615-S18331892592013072300000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than DTC B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 8 OK --> END
  8. REPLACE OCCUPANT DETECTION ECU Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Replace the occupant detection ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-568591-S13313485522013072300000) . NEXT: Go to next step
  9. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, perform Zero Point Calibration. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-568615-S13991606862013072300000) . NEXT: Go to next step
  10. PERFORM SENSITIVITY CHECK Using the Techstream, perform Sensitivity Check. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-568615-S13991606862013072300000) . NEXT --> END
  11. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-568589-S05901111982013072300000)

Note. After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. HINT

  1. If troubleshooting (wire harness inspection) is difficult to perform, remove the front passenger seat installation bolts to see under the seat cushion.
  2. In the above case, lift and hold the seat so that it does not fall down. Hold the seat only as necessary because holding the seat for a long period of time may cause seat rail deformation.

  1. CHECK CONNECTORS Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the occupant detection ECU and front occupant classification sensor LH. OK The connectors are properly connected. HINT: If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection. Disconnect the connectors from the occupant detection ECU and front occupant classification sensor LH. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged. OK The terminals are not deformed or damaged. NG --> REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.   7. REPLACE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SPRING ASSEMBLY Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Replace the front seat cushion spring assembly. Refer to «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-568764-S04604509752013072300000) for Manual seat. Refer to «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-568764-S10284912232013072300000) for Power seat). NEXT: Go to next step
  8. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, perform Zero Point Calibration. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-568615-S13991606862013072300000) . NEXT: Go to next step

  1. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE Measure the voltage of the auxiliary battery. Standard Voltage 11 to 14 V NG --> See step 7 OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SOURCE VOLTAGE) Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Disconnect the connector from the occupant detection ECU. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Voltage Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition W4-1 (+B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V Turn the power switch off. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   3. CHECK DTC Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Connect the connector to the occupant detection ECU. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant detection ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568615-S18331892592013072300000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568761-S06551148112013072300000) . Turn the power switch off. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 10 seconds. Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568615-S18331892592013072300000) . OK DTC B1794 is not output. HINT: Codes other than DTC B1794 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 4 OK --> See step 8
