The 4.4 Liter V8 engine air intake and distribution system comprises

  1. Air filter box
  2. Air intake
  3. Intake manifold
  4. Electronic throttle

AIR FILTER BOX

The air filter box is located in the front of the engine bay on the inside of the left-hand (LH) front wing. Air is drawn from the air intake in the wing into the air filter box.

INTAKE MANIFOLD

The intake manifold is located on top of the engine between the 2 engine banks. The manifold is manufactured from a composite material with metal insert fixings. The intake manifold comprises a central chamber with 8 tracts leading to the inlet ports on the engine.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Specifications»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/charging-system/#charging-system-general-information__specifications) .
  2. Disconnect the air intake resonator. Release the clip.
  3. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector. Release the wiring harness clip.
  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Release the breather hose. Release from the 3 grommets.

INSTALLATION

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Specifications»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/charging-system/#charging-system-general-information__specifications) .
  2. Release the air cleaner housing cover. Remove the 6 screws.
  3. Remove the air cleaner element.
  4. Clean the base of the air cleaner.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Specifications»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/charging-system/#charging-system-general-information__specifications) .
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to «Engine Cover - 4.4L»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe and intake air resonator. Release the 2 mounting clips. Disconnect the breather pipe. Remove the O-ring seal.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
