Inspection (1.6L)
- The TP sensor is mounted on the side of throttle body, opposite throttle lever. Disconnect TP sensor connector. Insert feeler gauge of specified thickness between throttle lever and throttle stop screw.
- Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between TP sensor terminals No. 1 and No. 2. See «TP SENSOR CONTINUITY»(ref-25084-S00128966812001010500000). (Scheme 1)
- If continuity is not as specified, adjust TP sensor. See «ADJUSTMENT»(ref-25084-S09126017952001010500000) procedure below. If continuity is as specified, connect ohmmeter between TP sensor connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3.
Note. If ohmmeter reading indicates a rough transition anywhere in range between lowest and highest readings, TP sensor potentiometer is faulty. Replace TP sensor.

Inspection (1.8L)
- Turn ignition on. With voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe TP sensor connector terminal No. 3 (Light Green/White wire). Voltage should be .58-.61 volts. Slowly move throttle to wide open. Voltage should be 3.65 volts. Adjust as necessary.
Note. If voltmeter reading indicates a rough transition anywhere in range between lowest and highest readings, TP sensor potentiometer is faulty. Replace TP sensor.
