  2. Install wiper arm and blade with wiper motor in park position. On Cherokee, mount wiper arms on pivot shafts so distance between tip of wiper blade and upper edge of lower windshield molding is .90-2.04" (23-52 mm) on driver's side or 1.29-2.44" (33-62 mm) on passenger's side.
  3. On Wrangler, mount wiper arms on pivot shafts so distance between tip of wiper blade and upper edge of lower windshield blackout area is 0-.59" (0-15 mm). On all models, lift wiper arm away from windshield slightly, relieving spring tension on locking latch.
  4. Push latch into locked position and slowly release arm until wiper blade rests on windshield. Operate wipers with windshield wet. Turn wiper switch off and check for correct wiper arm positioning. Readjust as necessary.

  3. On models with tilt steering, set tilt steering to its lowest position. On models without tilt steering, loosen 2 upper steering column mounting bolts. On all models, remove upper and lower steering column covers. Remove 2 screws securing multifunction switch water shield to top of steering column. (Scheme 10)
  4. Remove screw from bottom of water shield. Lift multifunction switch with water shield away from steering column. Disconnect multifunction switch connectors. Remove multifunction switch and water shield as an assembly.
  5. Gently pull front wiper switch up and away from right side of steering column to access wiring harness connector. Disconnect connector and remove wiper switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.
