ALL WINDOWS INOPERATIVE

  1. Test circuit breaker. See «CIRCUIT BREAKER»(ref-91529-S17158770822001032300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If circuit breaker is not okay, replace circuit breaker. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver's side front door trim panel. See «DOOR TRIM PANEL»(ref-91529-S20705940622001032300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect Driver's Door Module (DDM) harness connector C1. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 8 (Black wire) at DDM harness connector C1. (Scheme 5) If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between DDM and ground point. Ground point is located in left rear quarter panel, near taillight.
  3. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check voltage at terminal No. 9 (Tan wire) at DDM harness connector C1. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Tan wire between DDM and junction block. If battery voltage is present, repair door module. See «DOOR MODULE»(ref-91529-S06350197962001032300000) under COMPONENT TESTS.

ONE WINDOW INOPERATIVE

Note. Window glass must be free to slide up and down for power window motor to function properly. If glass is not free to move up and down, motor will overload and trip circuit breaker.

  1. Place window glass halfway between up and down positions. Verify glass can be moved slightly from side to side, front to rear, and up and down. If glass does not move freely, adjust glass or repair as necessary. If glass moves freely, go to next step.
  2. Test driver's power window switch. See «DOOR MODULE»(ref-91529-S06350197962001032300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If power window switch is not okay, replace Driver's Door Module (DDM). If power window switch is okay and driver's door window is inoperative, see «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-91529-S39306533102001032300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If power window switch is okay and any other window is inoperative besides driver's window, go to next step.
  3. Check continuity of each circuit between inoperative Passenger's Door Module (PDM) or rear power window switch harness connector and corresponding DDM harness connector terminal. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-91529-S22115743632001032300000). (Scheme 5)- (Scheme 7). If continuity exists in all circuits, repair power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-91529-S39306533102001032300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If continuity does not exist in any circuit, repair open in appropriate circuit(s).

CIRCUIT BREAKER

  1. Locate circuit breaker No. 28 (25-amp) in junction block. Junction block is located behind right kick panel. Pull circuit breaker No. 28 out slightly. Ensure circuit breaker terminals still make contact with mating terminals in junction block. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  2. Measure voltage between ground and each terminal of circuit breaker No. 28. If battery voltage is not present at any terminal, repair open in Black/White wire between ignition switch and junction block. If battery voltage is present at only one terminal, replace faulty circuit breaker.

DOOR MODULE

Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove front door trim panel of suspect power window switch. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect suspect door module harness connector. Check continuity between specified terminals at suspect door module, with power window switch in specified positions. See DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE CONTINUITY or PASSENGER'S DOOR MODULE CONTINUITY table. (Scheme 5)and (Scheme 6). If continuity is as specified, repair power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR under COMPONENT TESTS. If continuity is not as specified, replace suspect door module. See DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

POWER WINDOW MOTOR

Note. Before performing power window motor test, ensure power window switch is functioning properly. Window glass must be free to slide up and down for power window motor to function properly. If glass does not move freely, motor will overload and trip circuit breaker.

Note. If power window is in full up or full down position, motor will not operate in that direction by design.

Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door trim panel of suspect power window motor. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect suspect power window motor harness connector. Using a 12-volt power source, connect 12-volts to one terminal of power window motor harness connector. Power window motor should operate. Reverse 12-volt power source connection at power window motor harness connector. Power window motor should operate in opposite direction. If power window motor operates as specified, check wiring harness between power window switch and power window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check power window travel through complete opening and closing cycle. Check power window for sticking, binding or improper adjustment. If power window travel is not as specified, repair as necessary.

Note. Power window motor is integral to regulator assembly. If power window motor is faulty, regulator assembly must be replaced.

POWER WINDOW SWITCH

Note. Front door power window switches are integral to Driver's Door Module (DDM) or Passenger's Door Module (PDM). If power window switch is faulty, appropriate door module must be replaced. See DOOR MODULE .
