Windows 3 illustrations ~830 words

CIRCUIT BREAKER

  1. Locate circuit breaker No. 28 in fuse box. Fuse box is located behind right kick panel. Pull out circuit breaker No. 28 slightly. Ensure circuit breaker terminals still contact terminals in fuse box. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and each terminal of circuit breaker No. 28.
  2. If battery voltage is not present at either circuit breaker terminal, repair open between ignition switch and fuse box. If battery voltage is present at only one circuit breaker terminal, replace faulty circuit breaker.

Front Power Window Switch

  1. Front power window switch is integral to front door module. Remove suspect door module. See «DOOR MODULE»(ref-1114-S15721075862000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. With switch in specified position, check switch continuity. Continuity should exist between terminals being tested. See «DRIVER DOOR MODULE POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY»(ref-1114-S32280735532000031300000) or «PASSENGER DOOR MODULE POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY»(ref-1114-S22140622392000031300000) table. (Scheme 5)and (Scheme 6).
  3. If continuity is as specified, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-1114-S06878954752000031300000). If continuity check is not as specified, replace faulty door module.

Rear Power Window Switch

  1. Remove rear power window switch from door trim panel. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-1114-S01065461102000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. With switch in specified position, check switch continuity.
  2. Continuity should exist between terminals being tested. See «REAR POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY»(ref-1114-S19281851672000031300000) table. (Scheme 7) If continuity is as specified, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-1114-S06878954752000031300000). If continuity is not as specified, replace faulty switch.

POWER WINDOW MOTOR

Note. Before performing power window motor test, ensure power window switch is functioning properly. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH . Window glass must be free to slide up and down for power window motor to function properly. If glass does not move freely, motor will overload and trip the circuit breaker.

  1. Remove door trim panel of window motor to be tested. See «DOOR TRIM PANEL»(ref-1114-S42427777992000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect power window motor connector. Using a 12-volt power source, connect 12-volts to one terminal of motor connector and ground to other terminal. Motor should operate. NOTE: If window is in full up or full down position, motor will not operate in that direction by design.
  2. Reverse 12-volt power source connections at motor connector. Motor should operate in opposite direction. If motor operates as specified, check wiring harness between power window switch and window motor. Also check window travel through complete opening and closing cycle. Check window for sticking, binding or improper adjustment. If window travel is not as specified, repair as necessary.

ALL WINDOWS INOPERATIVE

  1. Check circuit breaker for power window system. See «CIRCUIT BREAKER»(ref-1114-S33598362892000031300000). Replace circuit breaker as necessary. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove Driver Door Module (DDM). See «DOOR MODULE»(ref-1114-S15721075862000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 5 (Black wire) at DDM 8-pin wiring harness connector. (Scheme 6)If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire ground circuit.
  3. Reconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 9 (Tan wire) at DDM 12-pin connector. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Tan wire. If battery voltage is present, DDM power and ground circuits are okay. See «DOOR MODULE»(ref-1114-S42850449262000031300000).

ONE WINDOW INOPERATIVE

Note. Window glass must be free to slide up and down for power window motor to function properly. If glass is not free to move up and down, motor will overload and trip the circuit breaker.

  1. Place window glass halfway between up and down positions. Verify glass can be moved slightly from side to side, front to rear, and up and down. If glass does not move freely, adjust glass or repair as necessary. If glass moves freely, go to next step.
  2. Check power window switch continuity. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-1114-S42762864432000031300000). Replace faulty door module or power window switch as necessary. If switch is okay and driver's door window is inoperative, see «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-1114-S06878954752000031300000). If switch is okay and any door window is inoperative besides driver's window, go to next step.
  3. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity of each circuit between inoperative Passenger Door Module (PDM) or power window switch wiring harness connector and corresponding Driver Door Module (DDM) wiring harness connector terminal. (Scheme 5)- (Scheme 7). See «WIRING DIAGRAM»(ref-1114-S13153151612000031300000).
  4. If continuity exists in all circuits, power window switch and switch circuits are okay. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-1114-S06878954752000031300000). If continuity does not exist in one or more circuits, repair open circuit(s) as necessary.

Note. Power window motor and mechanism is integral to power window regulator. If power window motor or mechanism is faulty, window regulator assembly must be replaced.

POWER WINDOW SWITCH

Note. Front door power window switches and power window lockout switch are integral to Driver Door Module (DDM) or Passenger Door Module (PDM). If switch is faulty, door module must be replaced. See DOOR MODULE .
